2 | My ILL | Joe |
Joe sent out a draft of the Alma/VDX decision page for feedback. Once requests are cancelled by staff they are no longer visible to the end-user and can be deleted with a job. Cancelled requests can also be selected in facets and deleted as a batch. Sequence: Receive a request in VDX. Two requests enter Alma. At night, the extraneous request will be cancelled. Patrons can see the request in My ILL, they can cancel it (won’t cancel it in Alma). Similarly, requests cancelled in Alma won’t be cancelled in VDX. Some lingering requests might require that we keep My ILL until at least post go-live. Perhaps until around October. One request is created by the form, the other request is created by NCIP. We are trying to keep and move forward with the NCIP request. The original request captures the delivery location data. This might mean that we aren’t able to support delivery of items going through VDX to other campuses.

Request went to SRLF to be Picked From Shelf. Scanned in barcode. Item appears to be routed to UCSD. It looks like the item has a ghost record from another campus. These records will be suppressed later. Barcode was scanned in. Alma presents the ability to Quick Print the shelf slip. Trying another request: Arioso Wind Quintet (Sound recording) Request placed. Scanned in at SRLF. Item scanned at UCSD. Appears to be a success. Proposed Lending Workflow: Looking up an item at UCD from UCLA. Requesting an article from “Beekeeping”. The Description drop down tends to create some weird outcomes. Specifying volume 78 and page numbers 43-58. Request sent. UCLA: All of the details are in the item, under Resource Sharing Borrowing Request. UCD: Request arrived at UCD. Jason posted a thread on basecamp about getting a test print of the pick slip configured. The operator could route this request through the digitization department. This requires selecting the correct holding with matching barcode. Instead, the operator can go to Print Digital Documents. Scan in the request barcode and attach the file on the same screen. Then click Done. Looking up the request again, it shows as having been completed. The system will then sound out a full digitization letter including a URL to access the item. If the digitization letter is not altered, Alma will try to make the whole line containing the URL a hyperlink. Article exchange seems to have a higher attachment limit than Alma.

6 | RLF Non-Circ items requestable for in-house use | Will need to test in Test Phase | There are some hacks used for library-use only items that can’t be checked out and back in because it will kick off a return process. This will have to be figured out for ExL. Davis tried creating a “Reading Room” circulation room. This was difficult for circulation staff to manage. There is now a transit step between ILL and the circ desks that allows the item to be checked out again before initiating the return process. This issue does not just apply for LUO items, but specifically to the RLFs. | Mark will reach out to Lynne Grigsby regarding this question, and based on this discussion, Joe F. and Elizabeth will start a discussion in Basecamp with Ex Libris if needed.
