ProQuest Historical Newspapers & History Vault Plan

New Content, Extension Years, and Perpetual Access: July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023

We are in year 3 now (started 2 years ago) - currently being cleaned up in NZ. History Vault material is activated, enhancing collection level records. Historical Newspapers has many small pieces and is more complicated.

Understanding CDI impact - update?

CDL has a ticket in with Ex Libris about why CDI isn’t working for this collection

9/22: no response from Ex Libris yet

Perpetual Access

Guidelines for local practice, given NZ records do not display if local portfolio is a duplicate

15 min

Perpetual rights and tracking ERES workplan

Complexities with post-cancellation access: what happens if a title moves to a new publisher after we cancel? Will the perpetual content remain at the old site? Will Ex Libris delete the old portfolio (possibly incorrectly?) If all content moves to the new publisher, will they honor our the perpetual access rights? What if we don’t have a pre-existing relationship with the new publisher? Helpful to document what’s happening at the time the title moves, but do we have the bandwidth to follow title transfers this closely? Much of this information may be in email now, but would be more helpful in ERMS.

20-30 min

ERES (@Michelle Polchow @Jason Dezember @Judy Keys @Katie Keyser @Kevin Balster @Natalee Bell @Paula Pascual @Sherry Lochhaas @Tamara Pilko)

Topics discussed:

  • GOBI API support group still meeting bimonthly

  • Ex Libris webinars (link is in announcements section): troubleshooting webinar is pretty basic, good for review or intro

  • CDL is working on renewals, receiving access extensions where necessary

  • Ebsco has a new ebook platform; links should not break, old interface will be maintained for some time

  • Ebsco has a large OA ebook collection; should OA systemwide group look at it?

    • Requests to have a large collection managed by CDL/SCP would go through JSC

    • Regular workflow not sorted out yet, OA group will be looking at it

    • Might be useful to do overlap analysis since many OA books have many access points

  • Proquest ebook academic complete geographically restricted titles
