ACRL Statistics

What do we still need to complete the ACRL Guidance Report

Daisy/All

  • For records without titles, those can be excluded. Right not it’s IZ-based.

  • ACRL requested exclusions for open/free content:

    • Network Zone activations - the only portfolios to exclude are related to DOAB (Director of Open Access Books), if we wish to pursue that.

    • For HathiTrust, it is database activation with no title level metadata in Alma (it's title-level discovery/access through the CDI, and so those holdings --- from the NZ --- are not impacting stats; local HT activations may impact stats).

  • For DDA, we can exclude unpurchased Network Zone DAA titles:

    • Exclude for JSTOR, AIRITI and CNPIEC. For ProQuest eBook Central, we only have purchased content in the NZ (from prior DDA that's no longer active).

    • We have a few other NZ DAA books, but its all purchased content impacting stats (Maruzen eBooks, CRC ENGnetBASE, Ebscohost).

  • Guidance report (for outlier categories that do not map to the ACRL categories - to determine if we should overwrite the Resource Type): Now that Daisy is back, how would she like folks to communicate if they would like that content (undefined, etc.) counted in a particular way?

    • To indicate if you want to overwrite the Resource Type to rebin into an ACRL categories: In your campus-based tab (for each campus, there is one for physical and one for electronic) - Add a new Column to the right (Next to “ACRL category” in light green, in your campus-based tab, and indicate if you want to overwrite (or not). Or, if you over-write “ACRL category” just highlight the applicable cell in red.

  • 3D artefacts – In Resource Type, Alma doesn’t have the ability to distinguish between collection-based or equipment-based artefacts. These items are all catalogued correctly; we’re just finding a limitation for Resource Type. For next year, for 3D artefacts, could we combine Resource Type Category with the Physical Item Details Material Types to identify and exclude equipment? (Parking Lot topic - explore whether this is possible; further campus consultation is needed, as Material Types are tailored to local need and inconsistent systemwide).

All (for those who are interested in refining the outlier categories that don’t map to existing ACRL data categories) – please indicate what/how you want to overwrite the categories by Thursday, Feb. 08 if possible – or by this Friday, Feb. 09. See instructions how how to indicate new categories in the notes tab. (See all-campus guidance report minus UCB here; UCB-only version here --- there are two versions just because the data-set was too big for one export).
@Daisy Nip and @Danielle Westbrook will build out Network Zone DOAB and applicable DDA exclusions for ACRL eBook titles stats; self-reported microformats will also be included for UCSD, UCLA and UCB in ACRL reporting. Based on ACRL updated prototype - a simple, clean data output for ACRL stats will be generated for each campus. Goal: to circulate by this Friday.

UCL / UCOP Annual Stats

Check-in

  • Near-final draft version of the UCL/UCOP Annual Stats (22-23) circulated with campus contacts on 02/02.

  • All stats reps and AASA-PT have an opportunity to review and provide feedback/edits, before revised/finalized version is circulated (known to be missing: UCB East Asian Library Rare Book circ stats).

ALL complete one more review, if you haven’t done so already / during most recent AASA-PT call for review/feedback.

Capture important topics for future discussion

  • When the UCL/UCOP stats prototype is revised for 23/24 reporting:

    • For 3D Type, to exclude equipment (distinguish between equipment-artefacts and collections-artefacts): Let’s survey campuses to understand how Material Types overlap for equipment – to determine if/how we might make a systemwide (NZ) exclusion to remove non-collections artefacts.
