Final FY24 UCL/UCOP stats report

ACRL/IPEDS

1. Confirmed definition for 40a (Physical Books (Volume Count)) - distinct from 40A (title count) -

   1. 40a (Physical books volume count) - ACRL additional guidance confirms using both physical monographs and physical serial bound volumes. This is the same definition as was used in FY22/23 reporting.

   2. 40a (Physical books volume count) will be updated to meet current guidelines.

2. Per ACRL definition, is an atlas considered "maps" and should be considered "Media" OR are they bound items and considered "Volume"?

Last year, UC used our definition of volume count. Previously, atlases and other items were media. During risk assessment, got moved to Books. ACRL separates into Books, Media and Serials.

Some concern about changing it.

Bound atlases should be counted as volumes/books for ARL and ACRL.

Retroactive adjustments to UCOP stats will wait until next year’s statistics.

Daisy and Anna will review the form to make it as clear as possible.
