Discussion items
Item | Desired Outcome | Time | Who | Notes | Decisions | Actions | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Welcome! | Get the meeting started; review and understand the agenda; raise questions. Record the meeting if there are no objections | 5 | Claudia | Notetaker: Lisa Schiff |

2 | Finalizing MVP (Minimum Viable Product) for “go live” |
| 10 |
| Systemwide Work brainstorming list Reviewed items we added to the MVP spreadsheet and added proposed implementation deadlines. DCFG members can continue to add items to this list. |
| UCSB has a cylinders collection that is built on top of its ILS and so will be migrated by go live. These records are for the physical cylinders, not the digitized versions. |
3 | DRAFT Decision-Making Tree | Review DRAFT Tree | 15 | @Rachel Jaffe + everyone | Example of a UCSC Collection-Level Record
Discussion about whether a MARC record for a collection is sufficient for both physical and digitized forms? UCSC has noted that if there were two collection level records they would have different resourceTypes, so they would show up differently. Suggestion to add a decision point re. whether to put a collection in Calisphere if it’s not there. |
| Possible companion document would provide a rubric for answering any of the decision points. Jolene, Becky, Claudia, and Rachael will work on this for the 2/22 meeting. |
4 | Developing a set of questions for Calisphere Team | Questions could be answered at a future DCFG meeting with Calisphere team in attendance. Examples:
| 10 | @Lisa Schiff (Unlicensed) + everyone | Case #3 use case; UCSB has a lot of geo-spatial data that doesn’t really belong in Calisphere, but should be in the SILS, and it would be more efficient on the campus end to just have one feed (to Calisphere) that has optional inclusion in Calisphere as well as pass on to SILS; would ensure consistency of metadata in the SILS. Jolene asks about the implications of their transition from DSpace to Nuxeo and the potential for duplications. Calisphere redirects should take care of this, but they may wait and not harvest until the collection is in Nuxeo. |
| Jolene will ask the Special Collections SILS team about any decisions regarding finding aids in the SILS Lisa will bring these questions to the Calisphere team and invite them to come to a future meeting. |
5 | News from PPC (Policy & Practice Coordinators) meeting | Learn relevant news, context, decisions, etc. from PPC meeting | 5 | Claudia | Alma test instances will come as early as the 12th. Primo VE is still slated for the 26th. |
|
|
6 | Task Reports | Updates on any previously assigned tasks | 5 |
|
|
|
|
7 | Parking lot |
|
| Everyone | Kate had posted to Slack: Can we revisit a previous discussion about the COLLECTIONS feature in Alma/Primo VE? So far Kate has found that everything has to be in Alma first, in order to create the collections. UCI has one collection of this type.
