DISCOVERY VISION: We strive to design and implement the best possible discovery and delivery experience for our end users using data-driven decision making. We envision a network zone experience that will allow users to discover library materials across UC collections without sacrificing relevant results. As such, the default search and results interface should prioritize the success of typical users while providing additional functionality for more advanced users.

PPC: Three decisions approved

(Go-live) RLF Bibliographic, holdings, and item records in campus IZs

(Go-live) Bibliographic records to leave out of the NZ during migration

(Go-Live - Migration) - Migration Updates from AEFG - P2E, Already-Alma E-Resources, Purchase Order Types

PPC/FG decisions that impact EUOS - keep these questions in mind

CDI Governance Model: PPC has asked PSELG to reach out to other consortia and UC campus stakeholders

  • PPC is keeping easy active/ fully flexible question as a standing agenda item until decision is made

PPC Decision notes:

  • RLF decisions has a focus on special collections

  • work around excluding bib records from NZ; see list

  • Migration update (includes e-resources and p2E)

Jess and Josephine gave presentation to WG and applauded for their work!

UC eLinks/Get it at UC next steps-> bringing image and wording options to EUOS; EUOS will return feedback

Boosting

Discuss boosting methodologies

25 min

All

What’s working? What is not working?

JW: Keeping MVP in mind; continue to modify; institutional boosting at 100 was “too much” and wasn’t surfacing articles. Experimented by comparing test to production:

  • Institutional boosting for UCSC lowered to 35

  • Resource type boosting for UCSC increased to 3.5 for articles

HW: How does FRBR and Dedup play into this?

LN: UCB not seeing article issues- seems ok with the boosting at 100; bigger campuses may have a different set of numbers due to collection size.

For MVP: already Alma campuses will experiment and compare results to production; non-Alma campuses will compare to UCD production

  • balance between institutional boosting and discovery of article and book chapters

WorldCat

Check-in

25 min

All

Different approaches to WorldCat Integration & Access

JT: recommending two or three access points to WorldCat

UCI and UCSC examples

SS: broken WorldCat API; separate API keys for different functionality (analytics, cataloging); created search profile

LN: Added to Advanced search; set of librarians testing and providing feedback re: al the ways WorldCat can be added

JC: UCD discussed options; adding in link as well as search profile (feedback so far- better than nothing in profile)

CM: Added in radio button; planning to test something new

EA: UCI Fulfillment FG and EUOS FG, PSEG reps are making a decision re: basic vs full WorldCat

MY: Sharing with IC; do we have a choice fulfillment wise?

HS: Link in facet and on no results page- will these be used? Do they work? Confirming that current Melvyl permalinks are still active in basic WorldCat; account info (lists?) will carry over too

Note: bundled with FirstSearch (contract up in 2 years: usage? linked to other tools/resources?)

Continue to talk with with our local campuses

4

Check Ins

Discuss updates/problems/testing

30 min

All

Opportunity to check in on local implementation:

  • Primo VE Default Display for MARC facet and search

  • ILL process- cannot expose ILL links before a user signs in; may make sign in bar more prominent in How to Get it section; JW will share code

Meeting and reviewing spreadsheet from already Alma campuses

Note RMFG document with changes re: field updates

Question re: harmonizing labels for item status related to fulfillment

ILL issue: other campuses' DDA materials; other campuses' ebook

Update: all campuses are subscribing to Browzine/LibKey next year

Begin documenting messaging to share with EUOS re: expectation and user experience (for exp. seeing ebook records from other campuses)
