DISCOVERY VISION: We strive to design and implement the best possible discovery and delivery experience for our end users using data-driven decision making. We envision a network zone experience that will allow users to discover library materials across UC collections without sacrificing relevant results. As such, the default search and results interface should prioritize the success of typical users while providing additional functionality for more advanced users.

PPC:

  • PPC approved RMFG Decision for (Test load) Local bibliographic data (5XX-9XX). Customization will be allowed for 14 fields & all other fields will be standardized. This will provide for better workflow and documentation throughout the campuses.

DIscovery-EUOS Outreach End-User Name Subgroup:

  • Confirmed scope and deliverables

  • Began discussing timeline

Sharon:

UCLA Library ingested the Film and Television Library catalog records during the Alma data harvest and there was concern about the unique needs of item display and search for the film and television records. UCLA Discovery Functional Group started a document to examine the MARC fields and their function. Should we share this with RMFG?

Discussion: Sharing Vanguard Primo instances with staff

  • Recommendation: letting communications / end user training that staff may need more information about Primo, as evidenced by questions raised at the 11/2 SILS Town Hall. We recommend directing staff to current production instances of Primo at UC campuses and the CSU system, rather than sharing the Vanguard Primo instances.

From the RMFG Decision Page for 5XX-9XX:“***Campuses can map other 9XX data however they like but should keep in mind that long-term RMFG will be asking campuses to adopt the 9XX standardization found here: https://www.carli.illinois.edu/products-services/i-share/physical-res-man/local_extensions. The fields above represent an initial pilot project. ILSDC will be providing comments on when/if campuses can adopt the rest of the mappings before go-live or in the months following.”
