Use Cases List

Determine if there are any additional use cases

Determine how we will use this - can some use cases be combined with criteria & scope as an introduction to the list of resources/training? Or was this list for internal purposes?

10 min

@Catherine Busselen

An exercise to help inform us on categories for the resources list - probably not something to make public

We will use this information as part of the final report as rational for creating the resources document

Working List of DEIA Training & Resources

Determine if any resources should be removed

Determine gaps in the list

Need a volunteer to search for repository/OA versions of articles from Cataloging & Classification Quarterly and Technical Services Quarterly for resources that don’t have an OA link

@Marcia Barrett

Updates

Links/Formatting:

  • The Resource/Training Name in the Working List is not always a link (heading 2 format). Those have direct links to slides & recordings at the end of the description. Removed non-working links.

  • Descriptions have attributions where applicable and some have been revised

  • Paywall links have been replaced with OA links when available. LRTS is now open access

Categories:

  • Changed the “General” category to “Getting Started with DEIA Metadata” category

  • Removed “DEI Discussion & Short Presentation Summaries” category & 3 resources (summaries of ALA discussions). Other resource moved to the “Getting Started” category

  • There are 2 new categories on the Working List - Resource Portals / Lists and News

Resource Type

  • Confluence allows tagging at the page level only.

  • Cat, Ryan, and Marcia have added Resource Type for each item on the list. These are searchable, and there’s a list on the front page. Creating a Confluence page for every resource isn’t feasible, and we would lose the table of contents at the top of each category page.

  • ALA Core Interest Group Week presentations should be open access. We’re verifying this with Core staff so we can download slides and make them available through Confluence

Questions

  • There’s a user need to filter/search by resource type. Rachel’s Accessibility Resources in Table Format. Could the list reside elsewhere?

  • Format resource type labels to limit search results to resource type.

    • best-practices?

    • #best-practices?

  • Add visible URLs in case user wants to print the list?

  • Repeat resources that fit in more than one category? (Best Practices for ….)

  • For later consideration: Accessible Libraries website: Metadata

add open access to type[?] list

subgroup will look into testing the confluence pages for accessibility

once we’ve found as many open access items we will re-consider the paywall tags (we may not need them if we have enough open access items)

Review & comment on revised descriptions and new resources
Review, comment, and edit the assigned Resource Types
@Ryan Finnerty will search for open access versions of paywalled articles

DEIA Training & Resources Criteria & Scope Draft

Determine if changes need to be made to the updated criteria & scope

What should we recommend for a group to maintain this list?

What types of resources are included? Not included?

15 min

@Catherine Busselen

Options for who maintains the list:

  • CMCKG or EDI CKG (may be too broad)

  • suggest a new group

    • possible permanent/long term SILS DEI group (facilitate work, serve as a communication channel, maintain resources and training)

    • possibly an EIMP-PT phase 2 subgroup

@Catherine Busselen and @Marcia Barrett will work on recommendations for new group
