Work Plan: Consortial Block Testing between UCR,UCI, UCLA

Review Progress

20

Sahra / Lai/ All

  • How is the testing going?

  • Next Steps

  • Currently cash limit blocks are decided locally. This might create inconsistencies in when blocks are applied to patron accounts.

  • The sub-team is working to get more information from each campus about their configurations.

  • There is a concern that consortial blocks may impede local circulation that would otherwise occur.

  • There is a UC Consortial Block document that will be sent out to gather the different configuration settings available to each campus.

Work Plan : UC Library Directory

Review Progress

Joe/Ernesto/All

  • Joe created draft and placed into Confluence

  • What should the scope of this document be?

  • There might need to be more framing of how this document might be used.

Borrowing Privileges for UCOP Employees

Start Discussion

10

All

  • UCB only campus offering borrowing privileges/cards, this comes with electronic access. This does not include retired UCOP staff.

  • Some of the other campuses would have created borrowing accounts as though they were other UC staff, manually. These accounts traditionally did not allow ILL (historically) or E access.

  • Similarly, UC Path employees don’t have a home campus.

Borrowing Privileges for Emeritus Faculty/Retired Staff, Summer Session Students

Start Discussion

10

We might need a document outlining what patron groups get AFN access on each campus so that we can harmonize.

Regarding, Summer Session. There could be situations in which students have two UC alma accounts. That is, if they are taking a summer class at a different campus than the one they usually attend.

It doesn’t sound like this will create any problems or blocks in access for patrons.

Capture important topics for future discussion

5

There was a discussion from Phase 4 around Reading Rooms and how that functioned in Alma. One of the campuses (UCR?) might have put in an EXL request around this. This comes into play when there are library use only resource sharing items.

Add library use only items and relevant configurations to the agenda.
