Q & A Session - Including Questions on Slack since last meeting

Any questions from the team?

Questions from Slack?

5 mins

Team

  • Greg: has been seeing slowness in the 2-3 hour range when it should have taken 15 minutes; this week it was 4 min! Then an hour again… ExL: “I’ve been looking into this, and there’s no fix; the heart of the issue is job prioritization and until that root issue is fixed you may see instances where the jobs are slow to complete”

    • Prioritization of jobs is within the server itself (Sarah Lindsey): NA07

    • Tom: this is a concern of ours at the beginning of the RFP.

    • Jackie: there was job slowness that was spooky around Go Live (and they did address it at that time on NA04).

    • Caitlin: It’s weird!

    • Tom: If they’re doing stuff because we’re complaining and they’re fixing is Great! But if they’re saying they don’t know why.

    • Jeremey: After being on Alma for awhile, I don't even guess at how long a job will take. its unique each time

  • Jackie: we’ve noticed an issue with accessibility on pickup locations where screen readers don’t work on that screen. They haven’t marked it as “challenging area” in their accessibility docs.

@Caitlin Nelson to add “slowness” to the Ex Libris support agenda; also “accessibility in pickup location”

Topics or questions for the Ex Libris Support Meeting

Any topics or questions that should be addressed at the next monthly Ex Libris Support Meeting?

5 mins

Team

  • Any topics or questions that should be addressed at the next monthly Ex Libris Support Meeting?

  • Topics so far:

    • The lack of meaningful information in Ex Libris' emails or status updates when there is a service disruption

    • Escalation of tickets from UCI and UCSD:

      • Case #06026169 - UCI

      • Case #06051114 - UCI

      • Case #06398058 - UCSD

  • See above discussion.

4

Information from Campuses regarding their ExL Tickets

  • Update on Campuses gathering information related to how many tickets their Campus has opened with ExL that they were able to resolve on their own without ExL’s help, or before ExL got back to them to resolve it

  • Discuss/Determine next steps for reporting this info back to LG

10 mins

Tom / Team

5

Analytics Update

  • Update re: Office Hours

  • Discuss opening the Slack Channel for Reporting / Analytics to Non-SILS Cohort members

  • Discuss updates from group working on converting “ask” document into a declaration document to set expectations

15 mins

Caitlin / Team

  • There’s a lot of benefit to having all expert staff involved in analytics, and having them be able to talk in Slack.

  •

Fist of five: open SILS Slack for analytics

6

NERS Voting Process, 2022 Proposal

Review and discuss the document that Caitlin sent out regarding NERS Voting Process, 2022 Proposal

10 mins

Caitlin / Team

  • UCLA: If the UCLA commentary is needed for the OT notes: Unless CoUL has stated otherwise, I would think this is a bit of overreach to tell individual campus members how to vote. It would be better to draw the line at, “We hope you agree with the All Chairs decision on how best to deploy our enhancement system votes and will seriously consider reinforcing that at the individual campus level as you are able.”

7

Discuss System/Component Down Communication Path

5 mins

Jackie / Caitlin / Team

NEXT agenda

8

Adding linked data profile to the NZ

Discuss giving CDL permission to check the "Linked data integration" checkbox in the network zone

5 mins

Neil / Team

  • If we want to pull linked data out of a record currently, we get an error message of "in order to retrieve linked data, exactly one linked data integration profile must be defined"

    • In Alma, there is a checkbox to allow this to go forward.  Not per record, is across the board.

    • Per EXL, There shouldn't be any impact to other campuses unless they use linked data, in which case they would need this checked anyway.

    • Goal: give CDL permission to check the "Linked data integration" checkbox in the network zone.

  • Gem: normally we would do this in the sandbox, but can’t, so I’d like to turn this on on Tuesday in prod, and it shouldn’t affect other campuses but we’ll have to see.

  • Neil: what’s the time for turning it on and off.

  • Greg: This magic checkbox - who does it?

    • Gem: Davis has this set up in their IZ, and we have to turn this on in the NZ only.

  • Gem: Yeah, it’s similar to other settings: there’s a global NZ setting, and the IZs each have to turn it on locally if they want.

  • Lakshmi: Looks like the IZs have to create an integration profile.

  • Gem: We’re trying to get Davis back to where they were when they were in the IZ so I think that’s the fist priority and we can see where

Yes, flip the switch on Tuesday (21st)

@Caitlin Nelson , @Gem Stone-Logan , @Neil Weingarten will send FYI to the Resource Management group to have them take this on if needed.
