Introducing new member: Zoe Blackmore from UC Merced

Hermine (UCLA)

  • Question from Slack: what to do with records that have changed OCLC number in the NZ? (Example: 9912331141506531)? Remove holdings and re-catalog? Ask campuses with holdings if it’s ok to restore the original record? Would be nice to have a procedure.

TJ (UCD)

  • Two new catalogers started last week: Nancy Gonzalez Lopez (Metadata Strategy Specialist) and Pengyan “Penny” Sun (Cataloging Specialist)

Catherine (UCSB)

Shi (CDL/Shared Collections)

@TJ Kao: Draft document with screenshots to outline how campuses should resolve NZ records when the OCLC number was erroneously changed.

Everyone: Review draft request form for Adding CalDocs titles and provide feedback to SCP-AC representative.

ProQuest ETD records

Slides from Mahjabeen

  • ETD to the SILS

    • Record import will be done by Shared Collections with the Operations Center and in consultation with RM-OST

  • Updates to CDL

    • Option 3: Separate WorldCat query collection managed by SCP

Could we get an example record of a joint dissertation, e.g. one issued by both UCSD and SDSU? Example: https://escholarship.org/uc/item/6xg5f4qc

  • Need to consider 264, 502, and 710 fields

  • It may not be possible to account for all necessary edits in batch; consider the number and if possible to correct individually

Updates to CDL: Prefer option 2 – using an OAI feed from the Alma NZ to determine changes

Once in production, can adjust and make further changes

Timeline: Something will be in production by summer.

GovDoc records

Update report

10 min.

All

Shi has agreed to have SCP to take on the loading of WorldCat records for GovDoc.

Question for the group:

Any strong objection to the idea of waiting for the new SCP Head, Marcus Jun, to tackle this task? (Marcus' first day will be February 10th)

SCP will wait for Marcus to start before loading WorldCat records for GovDoc.

Will need to consider reconciliation with existing gov doc records from Marcive.

@TJ Kao: Create a shared Google doc for people to add questions
@TJ Kao: Draft and send message to SILS-COHORT-L announcing our plan for loading federal gov doc records now that Marcive has ceased operations.

WorldCat Daily Updates

RMFG (Go-live and beyond) WorldCat Daily Updates

  • “Campus “-ER” holdings set by CDL are out of scope until SCP finishes its own cleanup and a plan for updating these records is in place in order to minimize confusion”

WorldCat Daily Updates

  • It is unclear which OCLC symbols used by SCP or UC campuses are excluded from WorldCat Updates; only the included OCLC symbols are listed

Everyone: Review WorldCat Daily Updates and identify additional OCLC symbols used by your campus that should listed as being included or excluded from WorldCat Daily Updates.
