| 2 | Updates/announcements (Please add in advance) | Information sharing | 30-40 min. | All | Can we cancel Dec 18, 2025 meeting? Let’s take the time to hear from everyone this meeting UCLA CDL UCI departures of people who were part of migration figuring out what library should be doing, especially because of vacancies
UCM new cataloging role, position had been vacant focus on print resources, preservation
UCSD adjusted to Alma, better erm than previous ILS frustrations with clicking, responsiveness, restarts batch work in III with global updates, have to use norm rules in Alma (more time consuming) withdrawing analytic records, batch deleting 910s item call number cleanup and other ongoing cleanup projects
UCB reviewing/updating training for those with cataloger roles removing references to Millennium updating material types in items (especially those with type “Other”) item call number cleanup, cleanup of cleanup projects new procedures for SLF, update campus holdings to reflect where material is getting used to Alma
UCSC UCSF budget cuts, restructuring communicating with new decision makers difficulty of learning Alma modules (functional areas) NZ Analytics helps, for RLF RM-OST harmonizing workflows
UCD Alma since 2016, comfortable with it staffing vacancies: 3 in cataloging not easy to learn Alma for new people
UCR new people after migration, department re-org, post-migration cleanup communicating systemwide policies, best practices
UCSB people comfortable with Alma less familiarity with norm rules, better with indication rules Rialto ebook purchases, CZ record quality (multiple OCLC numbers) e-resource records and discovery in UCLS, bib records used by other UC libraries Primo config: ranking of search results, won’t change cataloging if cataloging is correct to fix Primo display will present on metadata management and UC SILS WorldCat daily updates as benefit
Item process type: technical migration cleanup UCB uses dashboard for cleanup, check shelf and check in if found UCLA students search for books in stacks UCSD “in processing” status from Millennium UCSB bindery status
explain IZ/NZ interactions when deleting records in Metadata Editor vs withdrawing item through the manual job UCB consistent policies/procedures when deleting records UCSB delete roles are limited to cat maint folks “Copy to catalog” = unlink from NZ
PCC Metadata application profile BIBCO and MARC creating local documentation (quick reference) for implementation of official RDA, especially for copy catalogers, in MARC tag order

| 3 | WIPT update (standing item) | Information sharing | 5 min. | @Hermine Vermeij | Plan is to make a new configuration option (NZ only under Resources – Other settings) that, when enabled, will protect rules created in the NZ from being edited by campus users. Would cover all rules (norm, merge, indication, brief level) When a rule is protected, the save button will be greyed out, the delete action will not appear, and there will be a “view only” icon. Protection is for users outside the institution, not for users in the same institution. So anyone with the right permissions logged into the NZ could edit existing NZ rules created by other users. (Same for IZ.) Should be able to start testing in mid-January. TBD: Impact on current AllUC rules (which may not have been created initially in the NZ)

Can we set a soft deadline or shall we leave it to the subgroup to determine based on their bandwidth? (up to Ryan and Hermine) | | |
