Updates/announcements (Please add in advance)

Information sharing

15 min.

All

Hermine (UCLA):

  • Sandbox refresh coming Feb. 8

  • We’ve updated the library and location names for SLF-South in the catalog. (Not yet updated: website and references in MARC records)

Ryan (UCSD):

  • The UC West Alma Metadata team is exploring if we can get all the necessary data for WEST disclosures from the NZ analytics so campuses would no longer need to submit. This would mean that about 8 holdings local params would need to be defined (which can be done at the NZ level and pushed out to the campuses with the February release). Would any campus have an issue with that? Do we all have enough unused holdings local params?

Adam (UCB):

  • Issues with vendor imports - import profiles failed, Ex Libris attempted to fix a problem for one institution but had to roll it back due to issues/complaints

  • ILL / RapidILL

UC West will be defining 8 holdings local parameters at NZ level

Email will be sent out to campuses once the parameters have been defined

Deleted data in Analytics

Request for feedback

5 min.

@Hermine Vermeij

Ex Libris is considering reducing or removing the amount of deleted Alma data that Analytics keeps. They are gathering specific use cases as to why it would be a problem.

Update from Wednesday: it sounds like ExL is proposing keeping deleted records in Analytics for two years; they are looking for ways to reduce the amount of data stored.

Gem’s deadline for feedback: February 4. Try to get back to the group by February 2.

Discussion:

  • many campuses prefer 5 years, due to weeding projects and POL retention policies.

  • Deleted record restore process would need to be robust.

  • Is it possible to move deleted records to a separate subject area or other possibility to filter them for regular searches (if the problem is really performance).

  • BIBFRAME editor is here!

  • Indexing any MARC field is here!

    • I tested this and so far it’s not working very well--a search for “28 cm” in the 300 index gave me 8 results. Need a reindex?

    • Import profile matching by call number

  • Anything else of note? Anything we need to make decisions on?
