Updates (please add in advance)

10 mins

Liz:

Berkeley:

  • 34 million records were submitted – our third and final load. (including even invoices, which maybe only UCSF also did).

  • FRBR now suppressed for art, music, law, and performing arts materials.

  • ETDs did not migrate.

  • Local RMFG people are in the middle of writing up their training modules. Some of them said thank you to UCLA and UCSD, for being able to compare ours with yours.

  • Interesting discussion about what kinds of “escalation” channels we’ll want, for resolving problems with patrons and the problems that staff might have.

Hermine:

  • Added all our cataloging training materials so far to the Google folder, including the e-resource cataloging workflow from this morning (developed by my colleague Kevin Balster).

  • I will be on vacation June 29-30 and July 6-12.

SCP:

Shi is testing, will set “ignore CZ” back to true before configuration freeze on Friday.

2

Bound-withs

Should we label parent/child relationships in a 910

Implications for merging records

Proposed: Add 910 for parent/child relationship. Can possibly assist cleanup when Merging records, which can break relationships.

No decision required immediately. Can continue to think this through.

Liz will create a document that members can take back to campuses for feedback

Possible workflows: make set of MMSIDs and add a note. i.e. if 773/774 exists, grab record and add a 910 note.

MarcEdit may also be something that can be used

3

MARCIVE workflow

May/June files will need to be adjusted before loading

Draft

Can test in the sandbox first

Take back to campuses for feedback. Already Alma campuses can see if it looks right.

4

Guidelines for use of Premium sandboxes when go-live and other best practices to avert problems

Have we provided guidance on when/how sandboxes should be used for testing, etc

Inadvertently editing rules is also a potential problem.

RMFG has copies of rules archived when inevitable mistakes happen.

What should be highlighted in some way so that important instructions are obvious? Since this document is long - Make comments on this page or Google page.

5

CRL records

Draft

Both electronic and print resources in collection

Easy Active means these records will display.

How your Primo is set up to show availabitlity can effect access.

Would need the 993 to prevent ovelaying.

E-resources, CDI can do all the work

Take the three options and take back to campuses for feedback.

We have until the end of August

WE will be talking to Discovery FG and Fullfilment and other stakeholders on this issue.

6

Best Practices for Sandbox during July

Preface your campus name to rules, import profiles, etc

Keep import batches 500 records or fewer

Liz will put copies of all our rules/ profiles in there

Liz will make sure settings are set as we expect for go-live

7

Assorted issues

Can we update call numbers in holdings in batch with an import profile?

NZ and IZ collections both linked to same CZ collection. How does this look to someone in the NZ?

SCP is testing what happens in NZ view when an electronic collection vs an electronic portfolio is linked to the CZ by NZ and/or an IZ

Next meeting

Ok to work asynchronously until 7/13?

Yes
