| Updates | | 5 mins | Liz | Sandbox logins can be shared as widely as needed Recording meetings NZ demo moved to May 11 JMD: a. The Sandbox logins are all the same, and we can all use them. We’ll see if any issue arises if we’re all using them at the same time. When we enter the Vanguard period, there will be more and different logins. We can add working live in Sandbox to our meetings. b. As of today we will be recording our meetings. They won’t be put in Confluence though, as Confluence is a more public area than wanted for this c. Ex Libris’s demo will be this coming Monday, May 11, then, possibly May 18, there will be a live Q&A, then, after that, Ex Libris will meet each functional group live, in early June.
| Alma demo | | 20 mins | TJ | JMD: TJ showed us some cataloging through the IZ and the NZ. In the IZ search box, you can search in the three different zones (IZ, NZ, CZ). In Alma, “inventory” means the holdings record and the item record. MarcEdit: Alma has good information on how to integrate MarcEdit and your ILS; set-up is easy. MarcEdit: Alma picks MarcEdit records up by matching on the 035, or from a load table with your chosen match point, or by using the Marc API to overlay (for which you need a bib i.d. of the Alma record, which gets pushed into Alma from MarcEdit, but you must use the Alma import profile [which, unfortunately doesn’t allow local tags], then you must manually share this to the NZ). Local data opens in the NZ, not the IZ, unless you use the local extension. Once you link to the NZ, you have to use your local extension. You may only add a $9, meaning local, to a 9XX field, not to a 7XX, etc. (UCLA has been adding a $5 for local data clean-up purposes, and these can be flagged later for fixing.). Unfortunately, Sandbox won’t currently show the helpful “Display in Discovery” display. Liz will ask about this.
| Migrating records without OCLC numbers | Discuss Network Zone options for matching non-OCLC records | 20 mins | Liz/All | For records we plan to add to the NZ that don’t have OCLC numbers, do campuses want to coordinate 035 prefixes to see where they might have the same content? For example: ProQuest Congressional Research Service. If other campuses have subscribed and used the PQ records, should we work out an 035 standard so that they can be de-duped in the NZ? Related: do campuses plan on migrating DDA/EBA/misc. temporary records? JMD: Migrating records without OCLC numbers. (Among other reasons, a common reason for such records is because they are temporary ones for patron-driven acquisitions.) A worry about this kind of thing was about the great proliferation of 035s. Should campuses coordinate 035 prefixes to be able to see where we have the same content? Maybe it doesn’t matter because they will be in the IZ? As long as these are prefixed correctly, they should be fine… Maybe we’ll see what happens in Vanguard if we manage these in some different ways. We’ll table this issue for now. (UCR compiled a list of non-OCLC numbered records and is going to add OCLC numbers to them all.)
| Look at some local fields | Start exploring options for 9xx fields that ExLibris needs for their own data | 30 mins | Liz/All | data in 900-949 fields needs to be moved into another field JMD: IV) Looking at some local fields, 900-949. Data in the above numbered fields needs to be moved to another field because 900-949 are reserved for Ex Libris only. ** Starting next week, there will be actual assignments for our group, undoubtedly in this particular area at first. ** 9XX will be an ongoing assignment for our group. We should bring our helpful local decisions on this topic to RSC-MGT (= us), to talk over. A sheet: “9XX inventory working copy” will be found in our Drive. Could a not-so-perfect solution be to just add a local extension? Or, we could move data from 900-949 into fields outside that range. We might standardize 950-999, but we’ll see if that can be easy and useful.

| TTT survey results | | 10 mins | Liz | JMD: TTT (Taking the Temperature) survey results. No surprises. People wondered about ~ ~ Taking advantage of new features, What’s feasible and what’s not, Time and staffing constraints are very real, A main goal = don’t make irreversible decisions A main thing = this is a long process.
