In the IZ search box, you can search in the three different zones (IZ, NZ, CZ).
In Alma, “inventory” means the holdings record and the item record.
MarcEdit: Alma has good information on how to integrate MarcEdit and your ILS; set-up is easy.
MarcEdit: Alma picks MarcEdit records up by matching on the 035, or from a load table with your chosen match point, or by using the Marc API to overlay (for which you need a bib i.d. of the Alma record, which gets pushed into Alma from MarcEdit, but you must use the Alma import profile [which, unfortunately doesn’t allow local tags], then you must manually share this to the NZ).
Local data opens in the NZ, not the IZ, unless you use the local extension.
Once you link to the NZ, you have to use your local extension.
You may only add a $9, meaning local, to a 9XX field, not to a 7XX, etc. (UCLA has been adding a $5 for local data clean-up purposes, and these can be flagged later for fixing.).
Unfortunately, Sandbox won’t currently show the helpful “Display in Discovery” display. Liz will ask about this. | | |

For example: ProQuest Congressional Research Service. If other campuses have subscribed and used the PQ records, should we work out an 035 standard so that they can be de-duped in the NZ? Related: do campuses plan on migrating DDA/EBA/misc. temporary records? JMD: Migrating records without OCLC numbers.
(Among other reasons, a common reason for such records is because they are temporary ones for patron-driven acquisitions.) A worry about this kind of thing was about the great proliferation of 035s. Should campuses coordinate 035 prefixes to be able to see where we have the same content? Maybe it doesn’t matter because they will be in the IZ? As long as these are prefixed correctly, they should be fine… Maybe we’ll see what happens in Vanguard if we manage these in some different ways. We’ll table this issue for now.
