Do we need to change the time/day of our meeting?

Is Monday morning working out for us, generally speaking?

Monday is generally working well, but we’re open to looking at other days/times

90 minutes is tough

Beth Callahan (Unlicensed) will send a poll, aiming for a 60 minute timeframe, to help identify other days/times

Discussion topic: open access discovery

Check-in on each groups' progress toward writing a summary of conversations and findings related to open access discovery issues for the decision page

30 min (10 min per group)

  • Philosophy of discovery layer - questions and thoughts developed by PSELG (Rikke, Miquel)

  • Linked work done by Discovery FG, specifically their Vision statement for the Discovery Layer. Also clarified questions so that they’d be intelligible to others, grouped into 2 categories (how we do things, how users experience search)

  • UC OA cataloging policy (Cynthia, Sarah Troy)

  • consolidated notes from various group conversations and from our campus meetings, will add notes from JSC meetings as they are available

  • CDI - questions developed by PSELG (Sara Davidson Squibb, Beth D)

  • provided list of helpful resources, as a next step may peruse campus conversation notes to see if there are questions to mine there (although we ended the conversation before we really explored deeply, and there’s a lot of variety in how campus conversations went)

How did the subgroup work go?

Do we need to adjust the assignment?

How do we merge these sections together? There’s some amount of overlap between sections.

We acknowledged that we have some confusion about document, content, structure

Topic for a future PSELG conversation: Do we need to try to fill in all the information gaps on the decision, or is it okay to acknowledge that this is a work in progress and it is not yet complete? This is a topic for a future PSELG conversation.

Beth Callahan (Unlicensed) check in with Ivy and Michael about 1/11/21 JSC meeting notes

Not assigned: confirm and perhaps link out to groups related to ebook strategies and/or SILS eresources task force

Rikke Ogawa (Unlicensed) will take a first pass at writing a summary for the decision page

members Everyone will continue adding content to the shared google document over the next 2-3 weeks

We will reorder/restructure the shared document in 2-3 weeks once we’ve had time to complete our contributions.

Discussion topic: system-wide Minimum Viable Product (MVP) (new topic)

Identify items for MVP

Desired outcomes for MVP:

  • provide a guiding document for testing

  • communication for all groups to know what everyone is testing during testload

  • Looking from a system-wide perspective rather than presenting individual campus plan recommendations, PPC is putting together a document that outlines what must be in place on Day One, 6 months, 1 year.

  • Be prepared to discuss items PSELG would like to add to the document.

Opportunity to document things that need to happen NOW, and things that need to happen at future time periods (6mos, 1yr after implementation)

Focus is systemwide functionality

Are there overarching issues (like the CDI/OA conversation we’re having) that we want to capture?

Primo VE testing is happening in March--there are some things we can’t test until we can explore in Primo VE

Our role is to look at items that affect multiple groups to contribute those items lest they be forgotten. (Key OA resources should be accessible on Day 1. Less high priority OA resources should be available by 6 month mark.)

We will provide clear, concise descriptions of what needs to be working and when.

soft deadline for contributions: sometime in February 2021

Beth Callahan (Unlicensed) will create MVP spreadsheet just for PSELG that mimics the shared MVP document. (link to the PSELG MVP document is here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1lL_Vh5vdqbak0SflPjtc0LLBO14eQ_eOsw74pzeIYq4/edit?usp=sharing )

Everyone will contribute to the spreadsheet for a discussion to be had 2 meetings from now focused on what we should contribute to the shared MVP document.
