  • STRATEGICALLY PLACED REMINDER FOR ELIZABETH TO RECORD MEETING

  • From Joe for those truning in NCIP forms- “Instead of contacting OCLC (Ralph Horton) when you have completed the NCIP form, can you please contact me. I may need to change things in the forms based on recent changes in Alma, and I can manage them with Ralph in one batch.

If you have already sent them to Ralph, just let me know.”

Group Testing w/ ILL Ops

Svetlana set up two new manual blocks for us to test. https://3.basecamp.com/3765443/buckets/15553579/messages/3582181846

Svetlana set up new blocks.

04 - ILL block

05 - All transactions block

04:

Block placed, attempt to ILL an item from UCB. When signed in a box appears saying “No available services for this item”.

Follow-up question: Can the notice in the catalog be customized?

If there is no notification, training may be required for customer-facing staff.

05:

Attempt to manually circulate an item to a patron with the block. Cannot check out anything locally.

Attempt to request an item through ILL. Successfully placed.

Block placed on stub account doesn’t show up on local profile.

There do not appear to be any blocks or messages on the patron account. The request is not going through but error messages indicate that a similar or duplicate request has already been made.

Sometimes a borrowing request may be live in Alma but not showing for the patron.

Tried both blocks with a patron from UCB trying to request books from UCLA. Requests went through.

  • Elizabeth will report back to Svetlana and see why the block isn’t appearing on the UCB patron account.

Parking Lot

Ex Libris may need to help us write a flexible rule for phone numbers to allow for international numbers and different formats. This could potentially be a rule that will accept any string, rather than something specific.

It sounds like multiple campuses lost existing recalls and holds when moving to Alma.

Members can add to the parking lot issues that they feel need to be considered or tracked.

5

RLF Non-Circ items requestable for in-house use

Will need to test in Test Phase

There are some hacks used for library-use only items that can’t be checked out and back in because it will kick off a return process. This will have to be figured out for ExL.

Davis tried creating a “Reading Room” circulation room. This was difficult for circulation staff to manage. There is now a transit step between ILL and the circ desks that allows the item to be checked out again before initiating the return process.

This issue does not just apply for LUO items, but specifically to the RLFs.

Mark will reach out to Lynne Grigsby regarding this question, and based on this discussion, Joe F. and Elizabeth will start a discussion in Basecamp with Ex Libris if needed.

6

RLF Ghost Records Discussion

Records Retained for Items Deposited in RLFs

This decision will be worked out throughout the test phase.

7

DDS Decision Page (Test) Document Delivery Service (DDS) Setup
