Methodology for determining how many articles incorrectly display as Unavailable online in brief results.

6% of results when unfiltered would flip when entering full display. "Actually that is available online" or "in print" both were seen, but online happened the most.
Irvine had 4%. This is a rough approximation of what's happening.

Why is it happening?
Could be a few things.
article level if they have a link in record it's not doing the link resolver search to generate it in the search. Might be the biggest cause. (Link in metadata record setting)
If for some reason the CDI vendor data doesn't have a match up, then you get the break.
Errors in the portfolios/electronic collection data.

It's a metadata issue, we have to report it, it's up to Ex Libris and vendors to update the metadata.

UCD reports through sales force. Their Elect. resources librarian might be communicating it. But DISC is not.

  • Jared will look in to if there’s a way to find these methodically.

Other Questions

Review current Parking Lot, Slack Questions, decide next steps for finding answers.

NZ Local Resource Types in Sandbox. Ran job against reports. Concerns about some of the sets. Not sure that the 593 because it’s not in the NZ, it’s local. It might not do anything.

  • Someone send Gem a list of items with metadata for
  • Dataset

  • Video Games

  • LibGuides

  • Loose Leaf

To think about:

  • Should we create a 2+ member Discovery Steering Committee to plan work and manage the timeline?

    • Any volunteers?

  • Should we schedule open, optional study halls that can be used for testing with a buddy, addressing/exploring issues that come up, etc.?

    • Jessica is always willing to buddy up for testing. Schedule is flexible. Shoot me a message.
