  • STRATEGICALLY PLACED REMINDER FOR ELIZABETH TO RECORD THIS MEETING

  • Training materials and schedule are up in our google space, including the ones not specific to our FG.

  • For office hours sessions with Ex-libris, they’d like questions posted to Basecamp at least 3 days ahead of meetings.

  • We can always post questions in the Basecamp message board at anytime.

Questions for the User Management training module are not due until July 8. The questions for the next module are due on July 18.

Office Hour meetings will be recorded and made available. Attendance is not mandatory. These meetings are open to FGs and local groups as well.

A Google Form is available for direct question submissions. This link is available in our Google site with the training schedule. PMs will organize questions and submit to basecamp.

There is a document in Google Drive with sandbox access instructions as well.

  • Elizabeth will move existing questions.

Alma certification training

Become a Certified Alma Administrator and gain the knowledge and skills to administer and manage Alma system configuration. This certification program is entirely self-paced -- all online training content is openly available on the Knowledge Center, and the certification exam can be taken at any time through the Ex Libris Academy

https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Training/Alma_Administration_Certification

We need at least one volunteer to make our 2 per FG quota. Those already certified count towards the quota.

  • Training begins in September.

  • People can go through the training after migration, but it’s better to go through it now while we have Ex-Libris on-hand to take our questions.

Already certified:

  • Jason Newborn

  • Kristen Cardoso

Planning on being certified:

  • Micquel Little

  • Sahra Klawitter

  • Mark Marrow (tentative)

  • Elizabeth Rodriguez (tentative)

  • Scott Hathaway

Training is self guided. Ex Libris would prefer that individuals self identify when they have completed the training. (SILS-TOC-STAFF-TRAINING-L@LISTSERV.UCOP.EDU)

The training is self guided.

Decision page for How to integrate an ILL broker with Alma decision

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1rhF4czvpJUQPt-i4ZhK-v_TKCbYB4ELCH1Qj2ilhetI/edit

Discuss a way forward for the decision page for Vanguard. Joe provided us with more information regarding our two preferred options in slack.

Joe

  • 3rd party integration forms have not been submitted, they are currently being revised, and are not really due until late August or September. So nothing is committed yet.

HathiTrust links surfaced in Request:

If the item is held by UC, it will be found via the Fulfillment Network. If it is not, they will be directed to the ILL pathway.

ETAS links are held by UC.

There might be an opportunity for direct integration between Reprint’s beta product and Alma. Creating the opportunity for demand driven aquisition (DDA). This could include Elsevier as well as any other content that we decide to make available this way.

It is anticipated that there would be statistics available through Alma for DDA requests.

Options 1 and 2 are both technically feasible.

CDL would need to be notified through Joe if the group wants to move forward with Option 2. Work would need to begin quite quickly to accomplish this.

  • Joe will push this page to Confluence and take back to campus groups for input.
  • Jason will try to share some information related to the Davis/Hathi Trust integration.

DDS Decision Page

Checking in to see how this is going.

Linda Michelle

Individuals from UCI will attend one of our August meetings for a demonstration of their DDS.

Existing questions:

  • Can a DDS be harmonized across UC?

  • Does it make sense for individual campuses to customize DDS operations?

Differences in DDS units will dictate this. Questions to consider and potential operational considerations are in the linked document. The document also links to the Alma Knowledge Base.

Not all libraries at UCI will be implementing the new DDS service..

  • The FG would prefer August 13 for the DDS demonstration.

  • Elizabeth will push this page to Confluence.

Harmonization work

Homework- make sure you’ve filled in the spreadsheet for your campus https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-W2psaW6GsgOTD1ByTHRF00bikcnVR6W/edit#gid=1939968629

There is some thinking that it is easier to increase loan periods than decrease them.

There might be a way to control patron data as requests are made and patron accounts are created. This would create new users beholden to local loan rules.
