2

Taking the temperature

Redefine the Discovery Subteam and establish concrete structure so we can accomplish meaningful “meaty” work.

There are no wrong answers

  • What were your individual expectations for this team?

  • What do you feel isn’t working?

  • What hurdles do you face locally in testing the items on the workplan currently?

  • What support do you need?

  • Are we accidentally giving ourselves boring and useless assignments?

  • Is there enough work for two separate teams?

    • Not everyone is interested/skilled in the same things. Must we all do the same things and projects?

    • Are we willing to divide responsibility by expertise? Say, have a number of members delegated to handle the UX projects while the rest trust their recommendations? And then others work on functionality, and so on.

      • Yes, there’s the membership issue, we’ll cross that bridge when we get there and make something that works.

  • The Chair is allowed to “Form and task subgroup(s) as necessary.” If the UX team is a subgroup within Discovery, then how does that change things?

3

To think about:

  • Should we create a 2+ member Discovery Steering Committee to plan work and manage the timeline?

  • Should we schedule open, optional study halls that can be used for testing with a buddy, addressing/exploring issues that come up, etc.?
