Working Copy of Phase 4 Data Cleanup Spreadsheet | Discuss questions/comments coming from campuses based around data cleanup (i.e. How do I identify these records? Is there a way to do this in Alma?) | 40 min | All | | Identify those lines that are easy to cleanup in Alma? Specific lines discussion: Mark on the fly records – Those campuses currently in Alma struggle to identify these records. Non-MARC records, or records with fields with non-MARC tags. These primarily apply to Millennium (not Alma, and not WMS). UCSD has identified these and will be checking in the vanguard load Records with incorrect type value in LDR 06 – this might be solved after migration if RMFG decides that we’ll be working with OCLC bib updates. This can be managed post-migration Local notes in fields that are not local (e.g. 500 note) Records with incorrect 2nd indicator in 856-- doesn’t matter so much when you’re in Alma; only important in P2E process. SD defined this cleanup in their export (didn’t cleanup w/in Millennium) Wrong 856 2nd indicator-- this would have an impact on the P2E process if it causes a link not to generate a portfolio Item record internal notes – most Alma campuses are cleaning these up post-migration. Analytics will not be able to search items from other campuses.
Between now and next week, if anyone has any question about how to do anything, make comment in spreadsheet – ask system-specific questions about how to achieve searches, etc.
| You can find these records by searching for {u3013} in the 880 field. According to this webpage, it’s called the Geta Mark https://www.ssec.wisc.edu/~tomw/java/unicode.html#x3000 |
