Discussion items

DISCOVERY VISION: We strive to design and implement the best possible discovery and delivery experience for our end users using data-driven decision making. We envision a network zone experience that will allow users to discover library materials across UC collections without sacrificing relevant results. As such, the default search and results interface should prioritize the success of typical users while providing additional functionality for more advanced users.

  • Some campuses display when at least 1 link points to an OA version

  • Other campuses display only when all links point to an OA version

  • Discovery thoughts? Due 3/29

PPC approved 2 decisions:

  • NZ Access: Access into the Network Zone (NZ) Alma instance will be determined on a case by case basis

  • Local bib data: Any data in the 5XX-7XX range that is local (that is not part of the OCLC master record) needs to be moved to a protected local field. In addition, Ex Libris recommends that institution-specific data be moved out of fields 900-949 and that only consortial data stay in those fields for the Network Zone. All campus-specific data in these fields needs to be relocated or deleted.

Discussion: Easy Active vs Fully Flexible

  • Will confirm with ExLibris that we truly have a choice

  • Which option does Discovery believe will provide the best user experience?

  • Jess will present about the discovery implications of the two options at the SILS Chairs mtg tomorrow (3/24)
