Damaged Item Form roadmap
Current draft form: Damaged AFN item form (hosted by Ross at UCM)
Damaged Item form creation → the idea is to permanently host on the CDL website somehow.
Write to Sandra and tell them we’ll work with them on that. [done] (note: Tony Navarro is chair after July 1 2025)
What’s their timeline? (as of June 5, “as soon as possible”)
F OST volunteer(s) to work with sils ops on requirements (@Sandra Farfan-Gracia , @Tony Navarro , and @Ross Anastos )
SILS Ops Center: Caitlin &
Team meeting: Ross, Tony, and Caitlin met and talked through some of the issues (summary as follows)
Ross, Tony, and I met today to discuss the damaged item form requirements. We documented our thoughts here:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Zhzsz24TA_dTBdn6ydQwWYvW8ABcdz8AlC2rHg0ivn8/edit?tab=t.0However, there are a couple of issues that came up that would make us stop to think before sending this on to the CDL Web Team:
Data privacy around sending patron name and item title through email. We need to check with someone (Data Privacy group?) to see what level of concern this would be, and if this is a showstopper for the form.
Why aren’t we asking for this function in Alma instead of making a form? In other words, in addition to the consortial block functionality we’re asking for from ExL, can we advocate for some kind of note to be persistent within Alma about item damage?
Ross also talked to some of the RS people via the WIPT and determined that it wouldn’t be part of the WIPT, but would be close in function to what they are already asking for (Consortial Blocks)
NEW PLAN: Make this into an Ex Libris Idea Exchange to get this into Alma.
Get a team to write up requirements - Caitlin & F OST volunteer(s)
background: Damaged Item form & process
Questions:
Sending the patron name plus the item is circ data (P3) and requires a certain amount of secure handling. Can we send other info to fulfill the needs?
Will the form require authentication (CDL web team)
Get the requirements to CDL web team and do proof of concept somewhere?
F OST volunteer(s) as interim testing; F OST sign off
