Infohub Subgroup meeting notes:

  • Looking into how to structure the Confluence space, what elements we think should be incorporated, and how we should prioritize them

  • Questions:

    • Will there be a shared SILS space other than this Confluence site post go live?

    • We would like to see if we can become admins to create this space, in particular we would like to be able to create a “hidden” (restricted) space, so that we can flesh out the training space without making it live. Do we need to submit a plan to the PMs?

Accessibility and SILS

Brian

Brian (and Sylvia) attended a UC Berkeley WebNet meeting on Zoom accessibility. It was great and there are a few key takeaways:

  • We should be asking if people require accommodations

    • If someone requests an accommodation, we have to provide it. This includes if they request an ASL interpreter or CC, we can’t choose which to provide, they do

    • Should set expectations for when to have accommodations requested by

  • Auto-captions are not sufficient to meet accessibility standards, but are useful (particularly if you enable the live transcript, which shows who is talking and was much better than just the captions)

  • They generally do not revise the automatically generated transcript unless someone complains or they know it is poor quality
