DISCOVERY VISION: We strive to design and implement the best possible discovery and delivery experience for our end users using data-driven decision making. We envision a network zone experience that will allow users to discover library materials across UC collections without sacrificing relevant results. As such, the default search and results interface should prioritize the success of typical users while providing additional functionality for more advanced users.

Jess will reach out to RMFG to get the background info on that. RMFG feedback: asked about the 973 fields (info about local packages). For those who want 973 searchable (and the 930), would we recommend that they are mapped together to search in 1 place as “package name”? Davis plans to move info out of 973 to e-collections. We don’t really know the use cases well enough to answer RMFG’s question. Berkeley: Procedures haven’t been figured out on how to handle requests for local fields being indexed. 973 are local fields and local campuses and should campuses figure this out themselves? Or does Discovery FG need to “endorse” this. |
