Affiliates - to enable subtotals for units that report separately, such as law libraries. See the table in: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1qBB29zs2Ztp_P2EbFrsBr8p_BpLv2Xc4-ZUkZyNM5Iw/edit#heading=h.gjm4oejopi9h
Course Reserves - to enable reporting a separate number of circulation for print Course Reserves, because ARL excludes circulation of Course Reserves. (Hypothesis: “location at time of checkout” should be most useful filter. However, some libraries—especially new-to-Alma ones—might use Item Policy.) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1UmO40jUn30WOdpvccEcXjDq75JUFoPKGOWG3eeg4p7I/
DDA - to enable reporting a separate number of electronic item counts for any kind of patron-driven acquisition program where content is not yet licensed or owned, because ACRL and ARL both exclude these. (Hypothesis: Electronic Collection names or portfolio fields will be most useful filter.) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1NOGeUrd-IgYgiCB3U2LkQ-rrfYbBdZYZcaozZk0zOPg/ Examples include:
EBSCO eBooks (owned vs. not)
ProQuest ebooks (DDA purchased vs. unpurchased)
Sage (Evidence-Based Selection)
T&F (purchased vs. subscribed)
Kanopy (DDA)
De Gruyter (2023 university press package trial)
SCA - to enable exclusion of counts of Special Collections and Archives materials where those materials are more accurately represented by non-Alma data, such as records of Manuscript Units recorded in other systems. Per decision at: Statistics: Manuscript Resource Type - item counts (Hypothesis: location will be most useful filter.) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/158RA1l_uVf5lDJ798u8O_apmShwVgSm0LH5vaIhFl1w/
Withdrawn. To enable counts of deleted physical item records that accurately represent physical items that were withdrawn from the collection—to the extent possible with the data as it exists. (In practice, item records for physical items are regularly deleted for a variety of reasons—even if the item isn’t withdrawn. Local practice varies on whether notes, e.g., statistics note, internal note, are added to item records that represent actually-withdrawn materials.)
The SILS mission is to transform library services and operations through innovation and collaboration. The future is shared!
