Recommendation
Campuses do not need to standardize their implementation of BrowZine. However, campuses are encouraged to choose “option 2”, all setup done in the IZ, unless Third Iron recommends otherwise.
Reasoning
Multiple campuses have already implemented BrowZine using “option 2”, the option where all configuration is done within the IZ. Because of this, switching to “option 1”, which is a hybrid of IZ and NZ setup, would be disruptive to these campuses.
Should we standardize on option 2? We are choosing not to standardize on option 2 to provide flexibility if the option 1 setup makes more sense for a particular campuses setup or if they run into issues when trying to setup option 2. That said, option 2 is now Third Iron’s officially recommended method and is also the method most campuses have implemented. As such, we recommend campuses choose option 2 unless Third Iron recommends otherwise.
Background
There are now two different ways to implement BrowZine.
Option 1
This is the older method. To implement option 1, we would have 10 BrowZine publishing profiles in the NZ and each IZ would also have a publishing profile.
Option 2
Combines data into a single set and only requires a publishing profile in the IZ. It is currently the (new) recommended method for new implementations. Third Iron and Ex Libris now both consider this the preferred method. Third Iron reports that one library did have trouble using this approach but that particular library had an unusual setup.

Option 1 requires following some of the instructions in “Single Institution (IZ) and Consortia Members (IZ + NZ) Configuration” plus the NZ following the instructions in the “Multicampus Configuration” section.
