Background

When working in Alma NZ (eg. within an IZ environment & NZ record/scope), searching/importing within MD Editor and importing records from OCLC Connexion/Record Manager to Alma requires OCLC credentials shared for entire UC System. The OCLC credential needs to be configured in two places: 1) used in Open MDE: Configuration/Resources/Search Configuration/External search resources/OCLC; 2) for record exported from OCLC: Configuration/General/External systems/Integration profile/Connexion

Questions to consider

  • For test load, could UC continue using same testing credentials as Vanguard?

  • For go-live, one unique consortium OCLC account for import records from WorldCat into Alma via Alma’s MD Editor and/or OCLC Connnexion Integration Profile, or separate account for each (i.e. two accounts)?

  • Since ExL recommended “Worldcat (with Consortia credentials”, which normalization, validation, and match methods to select/standardized when configuring External search resources for OCLC?

  • Since only one integration profile should be configured for OCLC Connnexion Integration Profile, which normalization, validation, and match methods to select/standardized?
