  • discuss Alma release notes (if any)

  • discuss anything relevant from All-Chairs

UC vs RLF barcodes - sort of has a trajectory through the ILL CKG.

TBD. Might be related (but separate) to the AFN Library Use only question below.

2

Review OST workplan

Use membership transition time (June/July) to review our workplan with “fresh” eyes including:

  • Are there items on the list that should be removed?

  • Is anything missing?

  • Priority/sequence of list?

Related idea:

Creating an F OST Steering Committee to help filter topics to add future topics to the agenda/workplan?

Workplan page linked here.

  • Each member think about participation/involvement in being on workplan steering committee. Perhaps 3-4 total members but I’m not opposed to more?

  • Once workplan steering committee is formed we can prioritize/sequence the workplan, resume our discussion on the items below, then decide what to tackle on the workplan next!

Sandra and Sahra can help out on the workplan. Will push along as we get to it, perhaps have a draft completed by September to share with the OST.

3

AFN Library Use Only

We've been having difficulty identifying RLF material that is library use only.  I'm wondering if others are having similar experiences and how we can address it.

Sahra

This is an issue that everyone is having. Need a flag/book band/stamp to ID library use only items from RLF’s.

Check in with RS OST and see if they want to create a subteam?

Ross will Check in with RS OST and see if they want to create a subteam? Sahra would be interested in participating.

4

What is considered “damage” to an item?

xx

Task linked here.

→ Ross has not yet reached out to the RS OST, so perhaps this topic gets pushed into December/January?

Will discuss during next meeting

10/23/23 - Ross to create joint F/RS subteam for review. Sahra volunteered. Might not have anything to discuss for 11/6 meeting.

2/26/24 - Ross has been busy and hasn’t had time to get back into this. Push pause for 1-2 meetings.

5

Transit slips/notes for patrons with fines or fees

xx

Task linked here.

→ We found out that no cancellations are being sent across the AFN. Have a bulleted list for our options and a couple items under “food for thought”.

Could discuss with the group on 11/6 or wait until the full membership is present.

Notices working as they should, need to continue conversation around educating patrons and possible workarounds

10/25/23 - Sahra, Mark and Ross testing for cancellation reasons and user notifications.

2/26/24 - finalized text location, Mark will look into screen reading/accessibility best practices.

6

Ongoing letter “maintenance”

All?

Is there value in doing ongoing maintenance of letters; maybe quarterly? Make sure that each campus is sending consistent messaging. Related to the text that we word-smithed in the line above.

UCB - looking at letters locally. recently adding hyperlinks to the title of items (so users can be linked to UC Library Search).

UCR - is this for pick up notices? or any letters? or just consistency in general

UCLA - there can be value in seeing how other campuses are sending letters, overdue notices in particular.

2/26 - leave on agenda for a few meeting cycles and see how this topic develops. It would be worth it to look at some of our letters for consistency (On Hold Shelf letter above, for starter) but also look at frequency of letters and see if we harmonize that too.
