Consortial Block Configuration/Local Limits Configuration Decision

The setup instructions to the left were correct.

  • You need to configure the Network block first it’s not already set up in your IZ, then you add the consortial block

  • These blocks are manual. Svetlana confirmed that there are no automated consortial blocks.

  • If you set up a cash limit for the NETWORK user group in your IZs Patron Limits Table, network patrons will be blocked from borrowing once they’ve hit local limits. File path for configuring this is Alma>Configuration>Fulfillment>Patron Configurations>Patron

User Account Not Found

From Joe: Ex Libris explained why some user accounts cannot be found from other institutions. The search feature has a setting that allows searching on different patron data, such as first and last name. If the primary identifier is not unique enough, the search gets confused and gives up. There are two possible solutions:

  1. Change the setting to search on primary ID only.

  2. Make the primary identifier more unique (like a barcode) so that they won't look like name fields.

Parking Lot

Ex Libris may need to help us write a flexible rule for phone numbers to allow for international numbers and different formats. This could potentially be a rule that will accept any string, rather than something specific.

It sounds like multiple campuses lost existing recalls and holds when moving to Alma.

Members can add to the parking lot issues that they feel need to be considered or tracked.

RLF Non-Circ items requestable for in-house use

Will need to test in Test Phase

There are some hacks used for library-use only items that can’t be checked out and back in because it will kick off a return process. This will have to be figured out for ExL.

Davis tried creating a “Reading Room” circulation room. This was difficult for circulation staff to manage. There is now a transit step between ILL and the circ desks that allows the item to be checked out again before initiating the return process.

This issue does not just apply for LUO items, but specifically to the RLFs.

Mark will reach out to Lynne Grigsby regarding this question, and based on this discussion, Joe F. and Elizabeth will start a discussion in Basecamp with Ex Libris if needed.
