Consortial Block Testing between UCR and UCI

Discuss the Sandbox testing conducted on 4/15.

Sahra / All

  • Manual and Cash Limit Blocks block loans, but not Requests

  • Additional testing with 3rd UC, other institutions, can pick up UCI item at another institution?

  • A summary will be sent out to the cohort soon.

  • Currently, users with blocks on individual campuses can still walk in and borrow from campuses where they don’t have a block on their account.

  • Some of the ExL documentation indicates that requests cannot be blocked. Theoretically the patron can resolve the block before their item arrives.

  • There was work in Phase 4 around how to block users across the board with a consortial block. We may need to revisit this.

  • The FF OST will work with the RS group to do some more testing on user blocks and likely submit a ticket to ExLibris.

Work Plan

Review the Workplan to add priorities, duration, etc.

20

All

  • Moving UC Library Directory up in priority.

  • There are meetings scheduled to talk about Reading Rooms with ExL.

  • Potentially new development around Reading Rooms will go live with the May release.

  • Maintenance of User Accounts: includes purging records and a generic catch all for some of the user account issues that we’ve been having.

Billing

Review Feedback Provided

15

All

  • The campuses all do things a little different. Multiple campuses tie directly into Paypal.

  • It sounds like most campuses have an option for non-local patrons to pay bills.

NRLF is trying to solve an issue between Alma and Caia. There’s no workaround to handle these requests as they get stuck in the system.

There was a discussion from Phase 4 around Reading Rooms and how that functioned in Alma. One of the campuses (UCR?) might have put in an EXL request around this. This comes into play when there are library use only resource sharing items.

Update: NRLF issue temporarily solved. There are about 750 requests being supplied, this will take a while. One “contaminated” request stopped the others from moving forward. The root cause is unknown.

Add library use only items and relevant configurations to the agenda.
