What are our expectations for working together?
Fist-of-five decision-making
Use raise hand function in Zoom - this helps reduce stark interruptions or talking over someone, but of course it’s not mandatory in the course of natural flow of conversation.
Work from home is a reality: we make space for that (kids, pets, food, etc.)
Camera: we love to see your face! Camera breaks are also totally okay
Assume best intentions
Step forward / Step back
Listen as you want to be heard.
NO ONE KNOWS EVERYTHING; TOGETHER WE KNOW A LOT
This means we all get to practice being humble, because we have something to learn from everyone in the room. It also means we all have a responsibility to share what we know, as well as our questions, so that others may learn from us.EMBRACE CURIOSITY
Listen actively and seek to understand others’ points of view. We make better decisions when we approach our problems and challenges with questions (“What if we…?”) and curiosity. Allow space for play, curiosity, and creative thinking.
The SILS mission is to transform library services and operations through innovation and collaboration. The future is shared!
