Questions, Comments, Concerns?

  • UCLA is testing "Display Local Fields in a DEDUP Record" - will look for potential NZ involvement

MARC fields 775/776

15

How are campuses dealing with MARC fields 775 and 776.

  • 775 and 776 are Related Records in Primo. Current problem: Primo uses these related records to calculate availability for display. So if an item isn’t available but has a 776 linking to an available item, the record will display as “available”.

  • Campuses have different setups for Related Titles normalization rules, and it’s unclear how that impacts availability calculations. Removing 775/776 from display is unacceptable for some campuses.

  • UCLA has removed 776 from Related Titles normalization rule. Zoe will add the current normalization rule in the Primo Snippets Github repo. If anyone finds examples of 776s causing availability problems, view the record in UCLA’s Primo to test this interaction.
