Sharing and Updates

15

Share any Discovery related information from other SILS groups

LG:

  • Plan to send out SILS newsletter after spring quarter ends.

  • Confirmed the communication structure/pathways between CDL and SILS structure for trials/pilots

  • SILS Documentation: working on an inventory of what’s out there now

  • Drafting a charge for a standing data privacy team. Appendix A, from the old project team, has been published on Confluence. LG encouraged OT to read it but the concepts are good for everyone.

  • Discussed the role of CKGs within the UCLAS structure.

OT:

  • Ex Libris Support

    • Consortium accessibility ticket (07061199)

    • Navigation/display error in Alma with vernacular script (06961435)

    • Support portal tracking cookie issue

    • SSL Renewal error

    • Any tickets discovery wants to submit?

  • LG will soon be sending OT a named user survey to look at how the current allocations work and any needed changes/concerns

  • OT officially voted that users must sign the SILS Data Privacy Acknowledgement form prior to being granted access to Alma. (This was already the general understanding but now it’s official.)

  • Organization Unit Name change happening Monday!

  • SILS Op Center is doing a once-a-month update to a spreadsheet of outstanding tickets we have open.

All-Chairs: Did not meet

Accessibility update:

  • We’ve submitted the ticket to Ex Libris and also requested Primo listserv feedback on what other organizations have done for quick fix accessibility issues. (Look for subject “Primo VE accessibility customizations”)

2

Slack/General Questions

5

  • Primo JS Customizations for HathiTrust links

    • UCLA and UCB are still using it and their staff like it.

  • OAI Harvesting

    • Gem will look into OAI import and see if we could do it at the NZ level for IZ Primo.

  • Availability and Related records (ticket# 07029253). See also listserv discussion subject “PrimoVE: Full-Text Availability Statement does not distinguish between availability of resource described or availability of a related title”

3

CDI Subject Normalization and New Keyword Field

Has anyone had a chance to look at this?

UCR: Tested again after Go-Live and this is not ready for prime time. UCR Draft decision page:

4

ExLibris Primo VE vs Back Office feature parity survey

For the survey link, look for the Primo listserv message titled “Feature alignment - Back Office to VE; survey due March 11”

5

Automatically Enable Quicklinks

Start discussing. What group support would be helpful in working on this?

UCI: Where Browzine links exist, Browzine overwrite. But did seem to improve access when Browzine links weren’t available.

Testing approach:

Individual testing and then sharing with the group. Dedicated SILS Discovery time is not needed since we don’t think there’s an NZ component.

6

Upcoming Meetings

March 22:

  • Primo 2024 enhancements - Voting open March 4 through March 29

Future Meetings:

  • Discuss the accessibility spreadsheet results

    • If Ex Libris shared more of the actual changes they made, we wouldn’t be as surprised when our customizations are impacted.

    • UCB has someone who might be able to meet with our group to look at this more.

  • Exclude eBooks from CDI Results

May 8 - Next Primo VE release meeting
