2 | Update on Calisphere test ingests |
| 15 | @Lisa Schiff (Unlicensed) @Gabriela Montoya (Unlicensed) & everyone | Find the collections harvested from Calisphere here. Track issues here. Normalization has been a huge challenge. Resource type is not mapping correctly; Lisa and Gabriela are following up with ExL. We’d like to know from ExL: what drives FRBRization? What metadata is being used? (Ex: Day of the Dead '78 Celebration with Zoot Suit Group from Self-Help Graphics collection at UCSB) Also how does ExL choose which thumbnail will display? What happens if Calisphere is not providing a thumbnail (as in the case of audio recordings) We’d also like more information about where the decision to FRBR-ize is made (will that be at resource-type level, at campus level, is there a SILS-wide decision?) Another example is the “Please come and play in my yard” audio recording from UCSB’s Cylinder Audio Archives | We will keep adding issues to the Calisphere harvest issues list. Some of these issues may also overlap with Discovery FG’s testing and we will share those with Discovery. |

3 | Outreach from Discovery Functional Group on Usability Testing in Vanguard |
| 15 |
| Digital Collections: Usability Task List For the duration of the month of November, the Discovery FG will turn our focus to some initial user experience testing of the Primo VE Vanguard, with a subgroup specifically focused on digital collections. As we know your group of Digital Collections FG also has a deep interest in how digital collections records and services display, we are reaching out to learn how you might like to be involved in this work. You can review the outline of our process and the scope of our work here. We’ve also included additional useful documentation below. How involved do you see your group getting in this work?
If you have topics or scripts to share, or any other ideas, we would appreciate having these before November 6 at the latest. Useful documentation:
