DOC update

0 minutes

Sarah Troy (absent)

At the joint CoUL/DOC Steering Committees meeting on 5/23 ST and SH presented the idea of pre-messaging, ahead of the June Town Hall, from UC Libraries leadership about SILS workload and reasonable work expectations. CoUL Steering is supportive and felt that it was in-line with previous messaging on this theme.

We will send a message from UC Libraries leadership reinforcing this message.

SH, ST, AS (and anyone else who’s interested) will draft a message to be shared with DOC and CoUL Steering Committees by Friday, June 3. Hoping to have draft finalized for distribution systemwide by Friday, June 10.

DOC Chair Micquel Little will mention to CoUL as part of the DOC update on Friday, 5/27.

OT update

Tom Bustos

Discussion with Danielle Waters Westbrook.
We learned quite a bit from this discussion:

  • 5 reporting obligations, individual campuses might have some or all of these, and there may be additional reporting obligations that Danielle is not aware of; 5 external obligations:

    • To our insurance policy holder

    • The UC Budget Office

    • ARL

    • ACRL

    • IPEDS

  • For the statistics collected every Fall, through CDL for the Office of the President (OP), this data is used for a few of these obligations but also overlaps with the other data submissions that follow

    • Many campuses will export their data for the OP stats process, and that export serves all of their other reporting obligations as well

Many more notes on this discussion, along with the recording is available https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/15YdQrta5wajuYcBCXWhYw_SOxN8-ERL1?usp=sharing

Ultimately the decision is to change our write up to be more of an expectations-setting document, sharing the difficulties we are seeing and the likely “imperfection” of our data.
