Next projects in Work Plan

RS OST SC present proposal for next 2 projects. (analytics and statistics)

decide on next steps for at least one

bonus: decide on next steps for both projects

RS OST SC (@Alison Ray (CDL) @Jason Newborn @Linda Michelle Weinberger @Peter Devine )

CDL can come in and debrief and help but CDL doesn’t HAVE to do analytics (not like ILL reports which required a lot of dev).

Many members don’t have a lot of exposure to analytics.

Roles needed to make and access reports? Design analytics needed to create reports but you don’t need that role to see/access the results. Design analytics gives a lot of access to data so there may be some issues accessing that role. Who at each campus would be able to create the reports? Might we need a collaboration between the person who creates reports and the people who need the reports?

Analytics is useful for operational stuff too.

One thing Sabrina has noticed: Dates are inconsistent re: how they show up in reporting. Jason: “Statistical categories” might be a useful thing to use if we need to retain some specific data in requests.

Mallory: Most useful way to learn analytics is to go into analytics with an intent of what you want to find and then try to get that information. Otherwise it’s very overwhelming.

Overview of analytics gives a nice “mental model” of how ExL is thinking about analytics: Analytics Master Class 1 of 8 Overview and Introduction to Analytics (Oct. 20, 2021)

Statistics project - activities for those who have time:

  • Look at overview analytics video (Ex Libris presentation).

  • Assess: who at your campus would create the analytics reports? Identify a “local expert”.

  • Look at ILL reports and identify a report to try to recreate in Alma?

Replace VDX with Tipasa: target for summer 2023

Review/Discuss Replace VDX with Tipasa: target for summer 2023

@Alison Ray (CDL)

Alison took the group through the decision page.

RS SC will likely come up with a timeline re: when we work in earnest on this project if/after decision page is approved.

@Alison Ray (CDL) will send decision page to CKG requesting feedback. Aim for getting feedback by Mar 21, 2022

Pickup anywhere feature

5

Mallory

started to discuss this idea but needs more consideration

Pickup anywhere only works if the request is filled in the AFN. Otherwise the item gets delivered to the home campus. This has come up as a confusing/misleading for users because they won’t know the item can’t be delivered where they wanted it to go until we find a lender. Is this feature actually a feature? How are your patrons using or responding to this?

@Alison Ray (CDL) put on agenda for 3/23 agenda (incl. Jason’s musing); ~20mins

Parking Lot

Capture important topics for future discussion

Adding UCs into the automatic rota in WSILL - what do we think of this? Is it helpful in filling requests that fall out of the AFN? (Mallory)
