ELUNA Alma updates conflict with RS OST May 25th.

Should RS OST meet on May 25th?

3

Alison

no strong feelings at this time.

@Alison Ray (CDL) will create a draft agenda for 5/25 and @Jason Newborn would facilitate the meeting. We will assess whether or not to meet closer to the day.

AFN Courtesy Notices

AFN Courtesy Notices (may relate to ‘haromization of notices’ in work plan) from the other campuses give links to renew items that are for their own campus and not the actual patron’s campus. This is not helpful to the patron. Is there a better harmonized language we should use instead directing them to their own UC Search account? Or different links?

Peter

Should we have some page somewhere to show how you renew AFN materials? That could be linked to in the courtesy letter. It might also help local circ people when they encounter questions.

Updating the courtesy notices should, in theory, use the same logic used as we used for the hold pickup notices, we can direct people to their home Primo link depending on their campus of origin.

Pickup reminder notices are also problematic because they haven’t been customized.

What about overdue notices? Lost notices?

What’s the deal with pushing letters out from the NZ? Is it possible to push individual letters out or is it an all or nothing deal? What level of customization would be given up for that? Is it possible to harmonize letters? May be easier to do it letter by letter?

Should we make pursuing letter harmonization a project? Who would be on that project? Could this project be suggested for the Fulfillment Group to lead? It sounds like the Fulfillment group is talking about it too.

Create an informational page about renewal requests.

  • If you have useful ideas put it in the GDrive

Update the courtesy notices locally if you like. If you’ve cracked the code please share via the joint F-RS-OST email list.

Challenges with ILL requests from other UCs (outside AFN)

ILL requests from other UCs - Sending them as AFN instead of an ILL request. Proposed workflow: Send a conditional to close the ILL request to the UC that is requesting, and then place a hold for the patron as an AFN.

Problems with people scanning items that belong to UCs and then they transit back to the home campus and ALSO will check the item back in from the home library ILL pseudopatron.

Also problems with returns when patrons return things without paperwork.

Next Tipasa Two-wednesday discussion: think about what a meeting with OCLC might look like. What would be included in that meeting agenda? May 11, 2022

RS Retrospective: Fulfillment Network discussion (Joe Ferrie guest) Jun 1, 2022

‘pu anywhere exceptions’: review shared messages, what would be next steps
metrics on how often ‘pu anywhere’ requests have to be changed to home campus (Jason) → may lead to: editing pu loc for this requests → may lead to: harmonizing bookbands

Why do some digitization requests go to the “Digitization Dept for Institution” queue? It means they can’t get filled in Alma and then get kicked out to VDX - see 4/6/22 meeting notes for more info. (Scott)
