UCB records being added to the NZ: just over 200,000 UCB records were left out of the NZ during the build, Ex Libris is getting ready to add them back in
WorldCat updates: will work with Gem to get the ones that came in with no inventory cleaned up
Hermine (UCLA):
Holding daily SILS drop-in sessions (about 70% cataloging questions); also had some resource management-specific drop-ins last week.
I’ve been asked about systemwide RMFG drop-ins--would we consider opening up some of our Wednesday morning study halls?
Data is all looking pretty good. Ex Libris is working on a fix for 880s linked to local extensions.
Working on getting our local authorities loaded in.
Hermine on vacation next Mon-Tues.
UCB:
Yes, what Liz said above happened.
Just an hour ago today (8/3), our local RMFG chair sent out to cat staff the Gateway information, other info., and the go-ahead to slowly start some cataloging. I expect lots of questions from now on, for our local RMFG.
Working on figuring out how to do statistics.
CDL:
CDLA is busy review and set up available for groups;
SCP will wait for local collection setup ready before we can move SCP migrated P2E portfolios into designated collections
Liz will create a new RMFG appointment every other Wednesday for all-UC cataloging
Learning a lot about item records in Alma--no templates (but a lot of the things we used to code in item records, like item policy, are less important to fulfillment in Alma). Description field is causing lots of confusion. Everyone could use an “items in Alma” tutorial, I think.
ETDs. Now that we’re live, I’ve been asked about how we will be loading ETD records into Alma. We have a script that automatically loads them into Voyager that I guess will continue running. Hope to get a systemwide solution soon? Is anyone doing something locally in the meantime? We can rely on CDI records, but I reeeeally wish they had the affiliation. Example: https://search.library.ucla.edu/permalink/01UCS_LAL/192ecse/cdi_cdl_escholarship_oai_escholarship_org_ark_13030_qt5bd6r600
What (if anything) should we do about crummy CZ CDL records? Example: MMS ID 9914843839606531. Is there a way to report this kind of situation? (There’s a good OCLC record that could be used instead.)
UCB:
Trying to export a record to overlay an existing record in Alma that the Berkeley cataloger had opened in the MDE first - got the error message that the record was in use.
The second was when a Berkeley cataloger edited an OCLC record and inadvertently made the ELvl code lower than what was already in Alma and got an error message about the brief level.
UCB Cataloger overlaid a record in the NZ that had been loaded by UCLA. The original version of the record had a 500 note with "First edition." Cataloger updated the OCLC record, and replaced the Master Record, making that note a 250 First edition (deleting the 500). After overlaying the NZ, the record now has *both* a 250 and the original 500 note. [Liz answered this one, thanks].
We should probably fix the norm/merge so that only the 500s from the OCLC master come into the NZ record
Start with CDI and ask Discovery and Fulfillment to report problems
Liz will draft a decision page and send for possible approval by Thursday at 6pm

Suppressing records
Given that we can’t actually suppress NZ records for everyone, how problematic is that?
Do we need to ask CDL to regularly suppress items that are marked for NZ deletion (while we wait for actual deletion)?
Let’s get a few more examples and confirm during some study halls before changing procedures
