Updates (please add in advance)

10 mins

Liz:

  • Governance structure

  • SUNY resources

  • We also just started looking at templates to maybe take care of what we thought needed norm rules.

  • Trying to figure out publishing profiles for holdings/item export. Will probably bring to study hall tomorrow.

Hermine:

  • Local WorldCat updates progressing--we’re working on 2003-2006 now.

  • Honing in on templates and indication rules for some workflow problems--templates are way easier for adding fields to records than normalization rules.

  • Testing SpineOMatic

  • Reviewing ACTL reports. 99% of the changes are adding periods headings fields… even when they’re unnecessary/wrong, like 651 Austria $$x History $$y 1945-. (MMS ID 9910300031606531) and 710 Ukraine. $$b Ministerstvo vnutrishnikh sprav. $$e issuing body. (MMS ID 9913397864406531). Controlled by a configuration (add_punctuation_for_heading), using punctuation rules, which have some issues I guess.

TJ:

Liz recommended that the current membership stays the same after migration, at least, for awhile for the sake of consistency.

SUNY has documented lots of things our group will start discussing for the next few weeks. Liz suggested that we take advantage of SUNY documents to start with.

Jean mentioned CUNY documents are very helpful too, particularly those related to training.

Shi: SCP plans not to bring records that are already presented by CZ, e.g. Early English Imprint Books. In addition, CDL plans to stop sending LHR to OCLC post-migration. Each campus can determine if they want to continue doing it for their local resources.

Finalize MVP

Last pass at MVP doc

Push off new RLF deposits?

The group approved the current version and is ready to send it to PPC.

Liz has updated the status of some items in the document.

Best practices for creating/editing holdings/item records/portfolios: this group might be at the best position to take lead on this topic while working with AEFG and Discovery group. It will be a long term task given the number of moving parts that need to take place beforehand.

Some items will be best settled through campuses sharing their experiences and figuring out the best way to move forward.

Some items are removed from this document if other FGs are in better position to take lead.

Decision pages

Local authority files (voting meeting scheduled for 4/20)

Any reason to change the test load decision? Should we wait until July?

The group agrees not to make the final decision by April 27.

4

FRBR questions from Discovery

Do the current suggestions sound reasonable to start?

Liz will follow up with Discovery regarding the consortium setting question. She created a document for the team to record their feedback. The group suggests Discovery to review the final decision in 6 months and make adjustment.

Current recommendations exclude materials related to music, performing arts, and law. For consortium customers, ExL seems to suggest that all members need to have the similar setting for bib linked to NZ according to this document.

Metadata exports for HathiTrust and Google Books Digitization

Workflow schedule

Live OCLC/MDE demo: Liz can do the Gateway piece. What about MDE?

Please add any other features/questions you’d like shown to this document

Campuses are encouraged to provide feedback on the HathiTrust and Google Books digitalization.

April 29 is the our live OCLC/MDE demo day. Liz will demo the OCLC Gateway. One more volunteer is needed to do demo in Alma Metadata Editor.
