Start recording!

  • UCD:

    • Began to recruit for a Cataloging Specialist with Chinese language expertise (job posting)

  • UCSD:

    • Despite our hiring pause, we got approval to recruit for an assistant director of Metadata Services. We hope to post the job ad in the next couple of weeks

    • OCLC changed their SFTP so it now requires SHA-224 connections and as a result, Alma is not able to connect and get the WorldCat update files. Gem asked me to submit a help request to OCLC since we are using the CUS account for the files. She is now trying get it sorted out between Ex Libris and OCLC. No files have been loaded since 9/6.

    • Does anyone use the Auto-transliterate fields function for Arabic and Persian in Connexion? Do you find it to be accurate?

      • UCM reports that they tried it and it wasn’t accurate. They worked with a faculty member instead.

  • UCB:

    • New document: Holdings record field coding

    • Working to schedule all vendor imports, including scheduling jobs to link records to the NZ

      • What is the criteria for linking a record to the NZ?

  • CMCKG: Completing final review of Homosaurus Project Best Practices; will come to RM-OST for approval.

  • UCM: Latasha accepted a metadata librarian position at Stanford so this will be her last meeting. Congratulations, Latasha!

  • @Ryan Finnerty to email Hermine so she can ask the UCLA Arabic and Persian catalogers if they use that Connexion feature.

  • Please look over the Homosaurus Best Practices before our next meeting

  • We should say that there are mixed feelings in the group when we submit our comments.

  • CDL feels that their concerns need to be addressed first before this can go forward.

@TJ Kao will take our comments and send along to the SILS Operations Team.
