Updates/announcements (Please add in advance)

10 mins

All

Liz:

  • All-chairs is finalizing our list of Analytics configuration requests

  • Primo seems to be working now, please send any new issues along

  • CJK Primo ticket update

Hermine:

  • Update on our local CJK Primo ticket was that “the issue has been fixed” and will be part of the March 2023 release. When I asked for details, I got “The release notes of March will detail the change.”

TJ:

  • Where are we with URIs in MARC bibliographic records?

    • We already have URIs in our records and UCD has been importing URIs via Record Manager.

    • There is interest in having URIs included in records delivered via WorldCat Updates.

    • We could update the configuration for WorldCat Updates and then get campus feedback.

    • We will need a decision page with information and guidance for catalogers (e.g., links to resources explaining what URIs are, instructions to accept URIs as provided).

  • NZ records with 090

    • Field 090 is not protected.

    • If adding field 090, it should be added as a local extension in Alma.

Adam:

  • Call numbers in 949 fields are not mapping to the holdings record has expected with the Call Number Mapping table. It was suggested to try using the Holdings Mapping in the import profile.

CDL Acq brief records

Review email conversation, surface any additional questions/concerns

10 mins

Brief Order Records for CDL Acquisitions

  • There are questions about the workflow, including when CDL will create a brief record in the NZ and what happens with the record after. POLs added to the brief record may not be able to be moved to another record after the POL is closed.

  • This may also impact SCP practices.

RM-CMOS is supportive of the exception, but will need to work with CDL on the details of implementation.

The template should not include an 035 field.

Liz with follow-up with Gem

Speaking of brief: brief level group

  • There is interest in updating the brief level rules to:

    • Ensure a full shelf-ready vendor record is not replaced with a lower level WorldCat record

    • Move level M records lower on the list

    • Move level 7 records higher on the list

A subgroup (Hermine, Liz, TJ) will be look into this.

All: Let Liz know by Tuesday, February 21 if you want to be on the subgroup.

Authority control

Hermine

  • Original plan of identifying authority control issues with the NZ Authority Control Task List seems to be a non-starter, now that WCDUs are running. (There were over 216K entries for one seven-day period.)

  • Desire at UCLA is to generate a list of headings that need work (similar to what BSLW used to provide for us), which our staff could then go fix in WorldCat. (Any ideas?)

  • I’ve asked local staff to try to identify some use cases--examples of headings that are incorrect (in Alma).

  • Possible options discussed:

    • Work with Backstage just to get the desired reports

    • Work with the inclusive metadata project team

    • Reach out to other Alma institutions to see what they are doing

WorldCat Updates

Review some current settings, suggest updates

15

  • The import profile is set to “Do not override/merge a record with lower brief version”, which is causing thousands of records to be rejected.

    • May not be a problem because a campus may have updated the record locally before migration and we do not want to replace a fuller level local record with a less fuller WorldCat record.

    • Could also mean that we are not getting updates to access points that we would expect through WorldCat Updates.

Will wait for the brief level rules to be reviewed and updated before deciding if this setting needs to be updated.

All: Remind catalogers that they need to export the WorldCat record into the NZ. There needs to be a record in the NZ for WCU to work.

Liz: Export the records that are being rejected and share with RM-CMOS.

6

allUC MDE External Search Merge #1 rule

The rule can be updated in production now.

@Catherine Busselen will update the rule in production.

Work Plan Check-in

10 mins

Liz

Review Work Plan: Resource Management - Resource Management - SILS

8

Parking Lot/additional discussion

  • Alma August release has five CZ “Managed by Community” collections where portfolios can be deleted by everyone

  • Interest in session answering questions on how campuses decide when or why to use CZ

Limited Search Functionality in Alma and Analytics

Sharing session idea - fun with the CZ? (Maybe in conjunction with e-res?)

Evaluate and refine WDU configuration
