Updates/announcements (Please add in advance)

10 mins

All

Hermine:

  • Submitted a batch of ~4K OCLC records still on our multi-match report to be loaded with the combine-and-merge profile, which left us with only ~130 actual multi-matches to follow up on manually!

  • Met with Ex Libris rep along with other UC colleagues to discuss some non-Roman indexing issues. One issue (Primo advanced search title starts with not indexing 880s) seems to be a bug; the other (having to search with the initial article for Arabic and Hebrew to retrieve expected results) seems to be okay with ExL--they recommend submitting an Idea Exchange.

TJ:

With the help from Adam, TJ has updated the URIs in MARC records document

Liz:

  • Working on a handful of titles from the UCLA spreadsheet

  • We are doing a Rialto trial for one year, focused on ebooks

Next week we will set up the functionality and send out an announcement

All: review the URI document and provide any feedback on the document.

Future action (also added to our parking lot): eventually need to review norm and merge rules to make sure local 9xx fields are removed and not allowed into the NZ

2

CJK indexing update

Update from Ops/All-chairs

The Hong Kong indexing will be used. Will be included in the next semi-annual reindexing. We will not know when the reindexing will start, but we will be able to see after it has started.

3

Alma May release features

https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Alma/Release_Notes/2023/Alma_2023_Release_Notes?mon=202305BASE

Ability to see who edited NZ records

Official retirement of the “old MDE”

Some good QOL enhancements, too, like quick links in the MDE, “view items” from holdings, and a new search option for “not equals” and “not contains.”

We will not use the new feature, Adding Cataloger Information to Record Versions from Other Network Members in Metadata Editor, at this point. It does not seem that it will be useful enough.

Work with campus RM-CMOS members on the different campuses about problems or concerns with cataloging/metadata

4

Transition update

A new transition team is being set up to help with the upcoming changes

Only 5 more RM meetings in this fiscal year!

5

ETDs

15 mins

Liz

Draft decision/policy page: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1lzQxfWz3EbRm2D7z2KHYlKEB9_i2Az450V3s5MyTAts/edit#

  • would it be best ultimately to have this harmonized?

    • we did create a standardized ETD MARC record

  • Could CDL help make sure CDI or CZ metadata is enriched with the information we need?

  • any way to improve the management of embargoes?

Suggested action in the future: a SILS group to work on the ETD issues

All: Review the draft and add any information about your campus.

6

Work Plan Check-in

10 mins

Review Work Plan: Resource Management - Resource Management - SILS

7

Parking Lot/additional discussion

  • Alma August release has five CZ “Managed by Community” collections where portfolios can be deleted by everyone

  • Interest in session answering questions on how campuses decide when or why to use CZ

Limited Search Functionality in Alma and Analytics

Sharing session idea - fun with the CZ? (Maybe in conjunction with e-res?)

Evaluate and refine WDU configuration

NZ records lacking OCLC numbers

Need to review norm and merge rules to make sure local 9xx fields are removed and not allowed into the NZ
