Updates from SILS chairs and PPC

• Configuration meeting (July 30)

  • Main concerns for Resource Management: 9XX fields that should be indexed; call number parsing; active metadata registries; lots of things in general tab that may or may not need to be harmonized (e.g., subfield separator)

  • RMFG will discuss harmonization for config on August 4; draft due on August 14.

• Go-live timeline

  • Still being worked out with Ex Libris.

  • There will be another full consortial test period that will last a couple of months.

  • There will be a cutover load with a dead zone (of unknown length--2-7 weeks??) before we get our Alma environment.

  • Still discussion about whether things can be changed between test load and cutover load.

Campus data questions

Field questions about how campuses are prepping their data

• CDL

  • Proposal from Ex Libris that SCP load their bib records into a temporary IZ without doing P2E, then manually review 1.2M records. SCP would rather go through the standard load and go through the cleanup after. Still discussing.

• UCLA

  • P2E scramble at last minute. File will mostly include only 856 40 and 856 41, but some 856 42s may sneak through.

  • Other changes all on target, in process.

  • Local authority records?? No other Alma campuses have loaded any. We will probably load SARs into vanguard.

    • Authority control task list seems pretty robust; Alma libraries generally do not continue to use authority control vendors like Backstage.

Vanguard testing

Is our group interested in something like the CARLI spreadsheet for shared testing? What other consortial testing do people want to look at and review?

ILSDC testing recommendations

Where can we reduce duplicating effort and allow us to focus on assessment/go-live recommendations?

• Wait for ILSDC to finish creating their Google sheet; then see what we want to add for our own assessments. Also incorporate the CARLI list.

• ExL will probably provide a go-live checklist.

• To discuss in our next meeting: OCLC bib update testing in the vanguard.
