Questions for Ex Libris

  • Can library staff use sandboxes for training before go live/cutover? [Brian’s paraphrasing]:

    • [Marci] - Our sandboxes are created mainly for the project team's use (UCS currently have 2 institutions and 1 network zone)

    • The standard sandboxes are used for general training and the associated hands-on exercises.

    • Once we deliver the Alma environments (with test load data), those are the environments that UCS implementation staff will use (to review data, test workflows, and make configuration adjustments).

    • Campuses can opt to allow their additional staff to train and practice in Alma when it still has their test load data, as the inventory data will be blown away at Cutover.

    • During Cutover, when the Alma environments (with test load data) are not available, staff can still practice in the standard sandboxes.

    • Most customers will train their internal staff (non-implementation participants) using the standard sandboxes (typically during Cutover time - in preparation for Go Live).

    • After Go Live, once the UCS provide EXL the OK, the standard sandboxes will be removed and replaced with premium sandboxes (which are copies of the production environments).

    • There will be no generic training sandboxes available after that time.

    • I can check with EXL Sales if you want us to investigate the possibility of an additional generic sandbox - but it is highly unlikely.

For IT: Who is the person who needs the generic sandbox? Which campus? What is the specific thing that they’re trying to do? When?

  • Do you want an ExLibris rep to come to an IT-SC meeting?

Purchase approval process: for infohub/other service: justification for a paid vs. free service, cost levels, goes to steering

Space for Ex Libris questions:

@Joanna Kang (Unlicensed) will get clarification about 30 person limit - is it per campus? Per login? UC wide?

Training Materials links

5

Brian

On the SILS Confluence homepage, there are links to “Training Materials” pages: https://uc-sils.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/TOC/pages/532152360 and https://uc-sils.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/TOC/pages/532152360. Some of the links on those pages are dead. They’re in the TOC space and look to have been added in May. We could probably update these, but do we want to or should we plan on sending people to the InfoHub for this information and asking the PMs to remove those pages?

Subgroup Check-in

Notes from each of the subgroups

Brian, Dominique, and Katie

Infohub Subgroup meeting notes:

  • How do we get approved/request a new space in SILS Confluence? We would most likely need admin permissions, in order to implement access restrictions. Access restriction might not be part of our current Confluence plan, so we may need to request a fancier Confluence. We would likely need to contact someone at Confluence to get clarification on how their access restriction works (they only allow 100 IP ranges to be added, which we could probably do if it were only IPv4, but if IPv6 must be included, we’re nowhere near).

    • Proposal to WG-SC: reasoning for why access needs to be restricted/is public access ok, idea of how much this would costs, who would manage access, etc.

8

Accessibility and SILS

10

Brian

  1. SILS-wide:

    1. What is the SILS guidance/mandate on the accessibility of content created by SILS?

    2. How are we managing accommodation requests? Are we asking folks to contact us if they require an accommodation, and if they did/do, how would we fulfill that request?

    3. How are we ensuring that the content created in Confluence is accessible?

  2. Workshops:

    1. What has Ex Libris offered to increase the accessibility of their workshops?

    2. Can we ensure there is live captioning for the next workshops?

    3. How can we ensure that the recordings or workshop trainings are accessible?

@Joanna Kang (Unlicensed) will talk to PMs
