DISCOVERY VISION: We strive to design and implement the best possible discovery and delivery experience for our end users using data-driven decision making. We envision a network zone experience that will allow users to discover library materials across UC collections without sacrificing relevant results. As such, the default search and results interface should prioritize the success of typical users while providing additional functionality for more advanced users.

  • 899 Field? 520 Field? to exclude materials from NZ using custom filter built by ExLibris. Requires campuses to use this specific NZ filter custom scope Search Profiles.
Will need to look at Post-GoLive.

  • DFG be together through December 2021; what work will be done is TBD.

  • UCSF - e.g., of Risk Assessment - More books appeared because many were DDA and should have been removed.

  • UCSC/UCD configuration screenshots

  • How quickly did already Alma/Primo campus start making changes/tweaks? Within weeks of GoLive. Needed to determine where it was breaking? Data, Link Resolver, SCP, etc.

  • UCI - Test Load needed to be reloaded in 2018; contingency planning worked as designed.

  • How much EZ-Active will ultimately effect experience. CDI and EZ-Active is still unknown until we see what is happening. e.g, sometimes searching for known items can result in duplicate records especially for ebooks.

  • How much initial feedback, questions, concerns at initial rollout?

  • RLF is on-hold and will be Post GoLive.

  • Still questions about SCP, @Jared Campbell is keeping his eyes and ears open for any more news and will shared when more is known. SCP is part of many different Functional Groups.

  • UCSC - Based on usability testing, users were confused about Request and how long it takes to fulfill requests. Custom code to provide custom messaging books vs articles. Temporary removed message for books.

  • Users still need to have their barcodes “activated” in their library accounts even though they no longer need to use them to login and make ILL Requests.

  • Course Reserves - ebooks not showing up in

  • Voting for enhancements; perhaps poll our votes across UC instead of by individual campuses especially for consortial related items.

  • TIP: any customizations will need to be checked everytime there are updates/releases monthly. Alma and Primo have separate release notes.

  • Discussion of features such as QR codes; Automatically appeared for brief results; need to be turned on in individual full records.

  • Testing - different strategies: general pain points or strategic customization such as labels, links, etc.

  • Different strategies on collecting feedback from end users as well as internal users. UCB one specific group to work with are language librarians.

  • UCSC also utilizes a more heuristic approach as well to identify and receive feedback.

  • Refer to UCSC usability reports for after you collect your data. Reports in Google Drive.

  • Internal training, what are campuses doing?

  • Development of FAQs?

  • @Josephine Tan (Unlicensed) will check with PPC on DFG role Post-GoLive

  • @Josephine Tan (Unlicensed) will pass on recommendation to create a Usability Slack channel.
