Questions for Ex Libris

  •

About rescheduling the Primo VE workshop week (currently week of June 14):

We can look at workshop availability the weeks of May 17th or 24th. Would either of those be acceptable?  Or June 7th? I’m avoiding the week of May 31st due to Memorial Day (and related staff outages)

  • Request for IT: when remaining invitations will go out and to include passwords (if needed) and campus name in title. (Ex Merced invitation doesn’t have a password)

FYI/coming up:

  • For the 2 upcoming “shared” workshops -

    1. UCSB or UCD

    2. UCSC or UCR or UCI

Which Alma (on the new consortia environment) do you want EXL to use for each of the 2 workshops?

    • No hard deadline. Will check in next week. UCSB workshop is in April, but ExL trainers want to know in advance to prepare for the environment.

  • Later: Primo VE workshop: which environment to use for training?

  • Using the Primo VE test load environment for training and practice after Feb 26

    • Discover: yes

    • ICs: meeting today

    • Note that the environment/configurations will be changing all the time and will look different after go live

Decision about Primo VE environment for training should go to ICs

@Brian David (Unlicensed) will update checklist

Infohub Subgroup meeting notes:

  • Looking into how to structure the Confluence space, what elements we think should be incorporated, and how we should prioritize them

  • Questions:

    • Will there be a shared SILS space other than this Confluence site post go live?

    • We would like to see if we can become admins to create this space, in particular we would like to be able to create a “hidden” (restricted) space, so that we can flesh out the training space without making it live. Do we need to submit a plan to the PMs?

Accessibility and SILS

10

Brian

Brian (and Sylvia) attended a UC Berkeley WebNet meeting on Zoom accessibility. It was great and there are a few key takeaways:

  • We should be asking if people require accommodations

    • If someone requests an accommodation, we have to provide it. This includes if they request an ASL interpreter or CC, we can’t choose which to provide, they do

    • Should set expectations for when to have accommodations requested by

  • Auto-captions are not sufficient to meet accessibility standards, but are useful (particularly if you enable the live transcript, which shows who is talking and was much better than just the captions)

  • They generally do not revise the automatically generated transcript unless someone complains or they know it is poor quality

[Joanna] From Steering: include accessibility statement, handle requests on a case-by-case basis.

  1. How quickly will they be able to address requests (1 week before, 2 weeks before, etc)?

  2. Web accessibility - how accessible do we need to make things? What is the standard SILS wants to provide?
